It was an excellent day on the water regardless of whether we caught any fish. Any day I get to spend time with my Dad and nature with a fishing pole in my hand is a good day indeed. We had a blast on Lavon and yesterday just seemed to be my lucky day because my rod was getting smacked. I decided to try this Rubber Worm I got at bass pro that is 3.5 inches long and says it was for Crappie. It was blue and white. I stuck it on a 1/8 oz White Roadrunner head and 3 inches of the worm was hanging out the back of the hook. I stuck that thing down and we started trolling...smack! To pull up a Crappie and see only the head of the Road Runner protruding and see that worm all the way down the Crappies throat was surreal to me. It looks like a bass lure, but I managed to catch 2 Crappie with it during our last 30 minutes of fishing where I decided to try it out. I will be using it again.
I ribbed my dad all day because it is usually him having the smack and snack fest up in the front of the boat while the rear of the boat is saying...what color you using, how deep are you, what are you doing up there, etc.
Yesterday those same questions came from the front of the boat. :-)
Thump, Smack, Pull...HOGON!
LOL.
