Glen and I went to Lavon yesterday and fished the Dam. What a beautiful day to be on the water. The bite was fairly steady till the bottom dropped out of the barometer in the afternoon. All we used was jigs. I caught some monster Sand Bass (released) , Glen caught several LMB (all released). The only problem with the day was my ability to catch a Crappie. Out of the 23 Crappie in the live well, I caught a grand total of 4. Same jigs, same set up, same depth (20-25 ft.), and constant harassment from the back of the boat. We really had fun though.

It was an excellent day on the water regardless of whether we caught any fish. Any day I get to spend time with my Dad and nature with a fishing pole in my hand is a good day indeed. We had a blast on Lavon and yesterday just seemed to be my lucky day because my rod was getting smacked. I decided to try this Rubber Worm I got at bass pro that is 3.5 inches long and says it was for Crappie. It was blue and white. I stuck it on a 1/8 oz White Roadrunner head and 3 inches of the worm was hanging out the back of the hook. I stuck that thing down and we started trolling...smack! To pull up a Crappie and see only the head of the Road Runner protruding and see that worm all the way down the Crappies throat was surreal to me. It looks like a bass lure, but I managed to catch 2 Crappie with it during our last 30 minutes of fishing where I decided to try it out. I will be using it again.

I ribbed my dad all day because it is usually him having the smack and snack fest up in the front of the boat while the rear of the boat is saying...what color you using, how deep are you, what are you doing up there, etc.

Yesterday those same questions came from the front of the boat. :-)

Thump, Smack, Pull...HOGON!

LOL.
