If you download the app to your computer are you able to display the charts on screen . Do you have to pay Navionics anything additional ?

I believe you have to have a navionics chip you can plug into your computer...

I've got the Hot Maps Premium chip. I've also downloaded a free app but the maps don't display when the chip is in the computer.

The new Navionics PC App is $24.99 unless you have purchased a Navionics chart since October 2011. Then it is free. This app allows you to download a region the same coverage as your chart. You will see everything on your computer that you see on your chart. You will be able to Pre Plan (waypoints, routes), insert User Generated Content and many other features.
You do not need to have you chart from your boat. That was Nav Planner 2 and it has since been discontinued and replaced with this app.
This app is updated with freshest data so you will always have the latest data available.
To learn more go to Navionics.com, click on the web store and go from there.
Hope this helps. Nav guy, Thanks . This does help but also raises some questions. I just purchased the chip the other day during this current month. Bought it new from Academy. I pretty much did everything you said and The computer screen wanted me to spend 24.99 to continue. I will do this if I have to but for some reason I thought it was free. Seems like it said it was free on the package. Methinks a phone call tomorrow will clear it up. thanks for the help. Steve

You will need to insert your unlocked Navionics SD chip in your computer, enter the Navionics Webstore ,start the Navionics Installer. Follow the prompts to download Freshest Data until you have the option for Freshest Data or the PC APP. You will have to sign-in or register.
I believe this will get you going.

LittleGazoo, thanks for the response. That is what I did already and it wants me to pay $24.99. My chip may have been an old one laying around or something. I'll call Navionics tomorrow and see what gives. I've loaded the app. , just can't seem to get the charts up. Thanks,

Steve Did you already register your new card? You've got to register the new card so they know you just purchased one and then you can get the app for free.

I believe this will get you going. Gazoo's advice is dead on. I had your same issue with being prompted to purchase the chart, but you have to download the chart after the PC App. Once your card is in and you are signed in, make sure you click on the Freshest Data option and not the PC App option. When I went the PC App route, it still wanted me to pay for the chart, but when I went through the freshest data route, it told me that I have a free download of Hotmaps South Platinum. Download it and you will be good to go.
