Hey guys, what's the best way and camera to take pics of yourself with a fish? Going to falcon next week alone and want to be ready for that 13LB HAWG.

The BEST setup is a video camera that has a remote control. Most of the newer ones do video and stills. I have mine setup with a camera mount on top of a pole that fits my deck seat socket. I turn the camera on, turn the display towards me, compose the picture with the remote Zoom and take the picture with the remote shutter botton. I see every picture I take before I take it. Note the remote in my right hand:

Is the go pro camera easy to use? I see it at tackle warehouse. Willing to pay that much if it is pretty easy to use.

camera with a time delay? Go pro? The go-pro has a time delay feature, but you might not get the picture you want. You also have the ability to take stills out of the video you took with it. What i would do, and plan on doing when i have had more time to play with mine is do just that, let it run all day and take the stills you want out of it. they are pretty wide, in this short clip you can get the idea of the view you would expect if mounted on the console facing forward. I was just messing with mine when i did this and it's not exactly like i would want the view to be yet, but i haven't played with it much at all sense i got it. I always forget to put it in the boat or something else happens. Ive turned it off instead of on, forgot to charge it, all kinds of mishaps the few times i've tried ot use it.. I would suggest getting the one that takes the lcd back. I bought an lcd back for mine when i got it and found out that it doesn't work with my model. I keep meaning to get another one so i can and make an underwater mount on the troller for the other one, but just haven't.. Hope this helps somewhat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNBPhxdc9i8&context=C3d8aa39ADOEgsToPDskJqIFctwr5r30nblx_JGadK

Find the nearest guide boat, have them take your picture, hit mark on the GPS as you leave.

Most of the nikons are compatible with remotes, I have a remote for my d-50. Just set it where you want and go get in the picture and push the button.

I set up a small tripod on my deck or floor and have the digital camera screwed into it. When ready to take a picture just turn on camera and have it on the 2 or 5 second delay so after you click you have a couple seconds to get your pose with fish. It works well. You can also set it up for video but the battery would die quick and memory eaten up fast if you let it constantly record. When not in use just keep the camera/small tripod on the floor away from flying off when driving.
Go Pro is probably the coolest and best solution for VIDEO and constant shooting so you don't miss a fight. I've been thinking about getting one but for now my solution works well!

I use several methods, which can all be seen on my website (see signature for link).
One, I use an old tripod that I bought at the second hand store. I just put my camera on there and set the timer.
Two, I use my backpack as a tripod. Basically, I always keep my Kelty backpack with me for gear, and it was designed to "stand" up. I tied a small piece of string to my camera allowing me to hang it from the top handle of my bag, essentially making it a small tripod. I use this technique mainly to take pictures while I am in my kayak. I set the bag in front of me, in front of my feet, and set my timer.
In a bass boat, your options are pretty much limitless. Just get familiar with your timer and shoot away.

Here is a small sketch. This is the side view. I just hang my camera from the top handle of the backpack, and let the camera hang against the back. This makes for a really quick, easy, and modular tripod method.

I have a Canon Rebel SLR. I have a small remote for it. It stays in a tiny case that is attached to the camera lanyard until I am ready to use it. To take a picture just set the camera on a boat seat, hold up the fish and click the remote. The camera auto focuses and you get a perfect picture.

I ordered the GO PRO HERO 2 from tackle warehouse. I fish alot alone so I wanted a great set up. Only thing is a remote for it won't be availble till march. I am 54 and somewhat tech challenged. I have a 22 yr old daughter & son inlaw that should be able to help me figure it all out. I have tried using my iPhone with reverse camera but the pics kind of suck. Excited to maybe have some great future pics of some HAWGS. Now I just need to figure it all out

TW carries the Motorsports addition I have looked at the outdoors version package as well. Any thoughts on which would be better? I was thinking the outdoor package? Used for fishing of course.
