Well we are soon moving into that time of year for shallow fish lookingfor spawing beds qnd slip bobbers rule.
When they get on shore in 2 or less ft I pull out my10
ftProAngler set shallow and drop it under those fresh buds of button willows on shore with gravel or sand
I use 20#braiad and you wont lose th e set up if you do get alittle aggressive on really brushy spots
The hook #2Matsou sickle will bend or if im using a leader (10#Stren mono) will break

just got finnished puting momma a new outfit for this year
4ft-5 proangler with fused braid
just right size for fishing in our new slip atDevine

OK Grasshopper, practice setting it in the scissors and you can fish betrween the thickes brush out there (ha really- ijust got lucky on this shot

thanks for sharing BigMack, I use a very similar setup. 6lb Suffix main line with a 4lb breakaway.

Thanks, great info Bigmac.

Do you find that the crappie aren't line shy with the white braid and swivel?

No. I don't believe fish ever get "Line shy.
I use Bright Orsnge on sll my other reels

I've seen them caught on the old Brazing Rod trick
if that didnt scare em nothing will
Ernest I think told us about how someone pulled thehook up to the end of the rod and stuck it into a school and pulled em in
Also like Mr.Wally told us about making noise with the TM it scares tyhem so bad they jump into his livewell to hide from it
laugh

What,I've been wasting my time all these years tying fluoro leaders! ;-)

Ah, good to know, I guess when the experts stress using 4 or 6 pound line it is for the action and feel versus picky crappie seeing the line.
