the snow and ice hasnt gotten here yet... I am betting that Feb will be nasty cold with ice/snow/sleet. I like ice in my crown/coke, but not in the lakes I like to fish!
I remember a winter similar to this in the 90's. There were bass on the beds in late February on Fork. Like mentioned we still have to get past February, anything can happen.
As long as we have cold nights and sub 55 degree lake temps I don't think you will see much spawning in our deeper lakes. Some ponds and small lakes yes.
Last year it didn't seem to get to bad until around Feb. and then we had tons of snow up here in Oklahoma. I figure it will come in about the middle of Feb. when we are heading to Falcon.

Maybe earlier this year if it stays warm. It has been warm up until Jan. the last few years and we have been blasted in Jan. and Feb. But, to answer your question. Several years ago I saw them on beds at Fork in Feb. So, it can start it early.

it certainly can. however, the fish decide based on all the variables that are presented to them when would be the most optimum time to spawn for the purpose of having the most successful survival of their offspring.
