Does anyone know the difference between these oils?

Mercury Optimax/DFI 2-Cycle Outboard Oil

Mercury Premium 2-Cycle TC-W3 Outboard Oil

I poured regular TC-W3 in mine the other day and today I am shopping for more oil and I found this Optimax oil. This is my first Optimax motor and this is the first time I have had to fill this boat with oil. Do I need to empty the other and buy this Optimax oil or is 2-cycle oil all the same?

I belive the opti oil is synthetic. I don't think it will hurt to mix just one time.

I've wondered about this too. If anyone has a definitive answer, I'd like to know.

My Mercury man said to use Premium Plus. I have used it for over ten years in two different Opit's with zero problems. No need in spending the extra money on the opti oil.

The mercury optimax oil is recommended for the optimax. The premium or premium plus should only be substituted in the optimax if there is no optimax dfi oil available.
The premium plus is to be ran in the pro xs.
It has something to do with the "thickness" of the oil and the engines ability to pull oil/lubricate the head, especially during cooler weather.
That is basically what I found while researching this subject, but I'm guessing there's not much difference, however I would run what your owners manual says to run. That being said I ran amsoil in my opti
