I've stocked them in my pond before for vegetation control and for forage fish. They will die off when the water gets below 50 degrees or so. I've never been to Squaw Creek, but see it's a power plant lake. Like Fairfield, they should have no problem finding water to overwinter in. They reproduce like rabbits, and grow super fast, so a handful of them illegally stocked could take off. Mine would grow from small perch size to 2 lbs or so on a fish feeder over the summer. I catch them at my pond free lining a crappie nibble. They fight like hell, going into a spinning convulsion when hooked!

Put them in my pond, 10lbs took it from 80% covered by algae to a swimming pool in under 3 weeks.

Pond dried up before it cooled off, but it was neat nonetheless.
