My son and I are headed down to Port A the last weekend of the month. Will get there before noon on Friday 1/27. Plan to jetty/pier fish Friday afternoon and fish 12hr trip on Dolphin Docks on Saturday and some fishing on Sunday before we head back. We both have fished the Atlantic in South Florida a lot and some on SPI. Never fished Port A. Looking for areas that have quantity and also areas for large fish. Both preferred of course. Would really love to put him on some sharks. I will be celebrating my 40th bday too. Any tips would be awesome! PM if you like.

When I was down there the beginning of December there wasn't much happening in the surf or jetties. My best luck was fishing a moving tide in the lighthouse lakes area right off the road. (361)
[quote=JimRinTX]Since Sheepshead are game fish, I did not think it legal to use as bait. You could use ladyfish or sand trout I believe. [/quote. ] there are legal and a great sharkbait .

Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.
We had an awesome time. Fishing off the jetty was fun and productive. Caught lots of whiting, a few sheepshead and croakers. Fished on the Dolphin Docks La Presca Saturday from 6am-6pm. It was pretty rough but very productive. Both of us caught two Kings each and a pile of Vermillion Snapper. Also caught a ramora, queen trigger and a pile of red snapper. Had 52lbs of fish prior to cleaning. My son chummed a few times (along with about half the 42 people on the boat). We caught lots of fish, shared good conversation and thanked God for the opportunity.
