I have been using a well known prop shop and over the years their prices have gone up and up and their turn around has gotten longer. What used to take a couple of days now takes a week or more and is almost twice the price.

I really would perfer not to receive reponses like "you get what you pay for" or "commodity prices have gone up". That is why I put value instead of cheap.

If you have received great prop work and at a great price please let me know.

inflation has hit our "supplies" somewhat. only effects each prop about 5.00 to 10.00

i've been doing this for 18years. and really haven't had to go up much on my repairs. this year is the first time i've gone up a little. average 5.00 per prop.

i can't and won't speak for any other shop.

turnaround time always varies between seasons.

Most fishermen I know and do boat work for have a spare prop. I even carry a prop, w/ different hub kits, to tournaments just in case someone in the club has trouble.

another thing that's been happening to the repair business is ALOT of "part time" shops have closed down, so have some really big full time shops.
that makes the wait time even longer. it's even effecting me as so many people have to ship props to a shop.

hope all this is making sense to you.

oh, and it's possible that shop your referring to may have hired someone else or bought high dollar equipment.

personally i've been looking at an automatic polisher...starts at 7-9 thousand.
also there is a prop scan machine that's 65k. i aint buying one of them.

All I can say is every time I send a prop to Steve I get great service, a great finished prop at a fair price. I don't know what more you can ask for !!!

I have thought about using Steve before but I have not looked into yet because I thought the shipping would be cost prohibited. But I guess I will get take a picture and send him an email for a quote.

I have advised a couple of people I know to give Steve a call when they were having a some ride issues. It seems like Steve might be one of the last few prop guys that will take a boat out to the lake to investigate a problem.

Steve can help you with your ride issues and it is worth shipping your props to him. He is just flatout the best I have ever had do a prop also he has other things he does to make a boat drive better. He built a torque tab on my skeg and stopped the pulling to the right looks like the skeg was made that way.

brian.

there's still ALOT of really good prop guys around. but, there's also been alot of shops close down, and alot of guys are trying to cut corners to make more money. i hate to see guys do that to props cause it makes us all look bad.
all i can say about my shop is i take great pride in what i do. reputation is everything!!!
those that do their best "every time" and work hard will always have a job!
i make mistakes (i'm human), but have always tried to make it right with guys.

let me know what i do to help.

p.s. pricing.
average bass boat props
3 blade is 150.00
4 blade is 155.0
fury is 165.00
vmax is 165.00

i do drag props, custom mod's and blueprinting to new props.
i do flo-torque conversions and i drill pvs holes in props.
i'm constantly expanding this shops abilities.
i don't do very many mercruiser props anymore and i do not work on brass props or inboard props.

hope that helps ya!
