Thought I would throw a line out to see what everyone had to say about crappie on these 2 lakes. I have an outdoor friend (an older fellow who's not very internet savvy or he would be a fellow TFF'er) that has his boat smack dab between these 2 lakes and is a crappie NUT! Just wondered if anyone ever fished and did any good at these 2 small/shallow water impoundments or are they a waste of time and he should just stick to Fork? Thanks for the help in advance!

10-4 that Mack! and good reminder...I agree that attitude can certainly affect altitude. Thanks for chiming in and I will let my buddy know. My gut told me that they both should be good but TP&W doesn't show ANY history stocking crappie on these 2 lakes and judging by the numbers of Florida strain black bass they have put in those lakes (for such small bodies of water) I was just curious as to how much havoc those green trash fish may have reeked on the indigenous crappie population...

Don't know about crappie but I caught a good many large bass at Winnsboro when I fished a tournament there several years ago. (Skunked my partner)

All I have heard about Winnsboro is great things. Seen some pictures of some monster crappie being caught at the fishing barge there. I have not a chance to make it down that way, but will be after seeing the catches they had from last week.

Winnsboro is small, but the fish in that lake are nice and healthy!! Rhonda's sister and brother in law have a lake house on Winnsboro and we love to go over there.

Thanks to everyone for chiming in! I have let my buddy know and he is grateful to you all as well. With the pretty weather the next couple of days, I think he is going to run over to Winnsboro and start looking for fish and learning the lake!
