I knew you were sincere with your question and bet Ken did too. But this high-fenced fishing is unlike high or low fence package hunts (and most lease rules if the place is any good) where if you draw blood, that's your deer. Mike doesn't do that with his fish.

I knew it was Doug. My response was directed at Grant saying $25K was insane for a 15 pound fish.

This fish is worth what someone is willing to pay. I know it may be hard to comprehend but to some folks dropping $25K is like buying a candy bar. I'm NOT one of those folks but they are out there.

Look at it this way. I sold a car to ex-Ranger pitcher John Wetteland for $100k a few years back. He was making $5 million a year at the time which is Chump Change compared to what some of the guys make now a days. Here is the kicker... $5,000,000 is 100 times more than $50,000.

So for a man that makes $5 million a year to spend $100K on a car is like the guy that makes $50K a year to spend $1K on a junker for his deer lease. Plus the guy that makes $5 mil has a ton of disposable income where the guy that makes $50K spends every cent he makes to simply pay his bills.

That's what I was trying to demonstrate. No offense to anyone but there are some pretty narrow minded folks on here when it comes to how I spend my money. LOL

Spend it and enjoy. If you work hard for your money it is your money to spend. Some people don't understand but they will in 5 - 10 years. Live your dream and catch another 15lber or maybe a 17lber. It is all good...FYI I like the 65lb braid comments above. I think that is good advise.

That's cuz Ken got his rear dusted with 50lb! On a run following the hookset the same day that he caught the new lake record.

Mike was out fishing by himself, between guide trips, during that period last July when three over 14 were caught w/in a week and a bunch more over 12. You can see the photos with dates on his website.

I was getting the blow-by-blow on my cell with txts and photos. Mike had 4 fish that day which weighed 51 lbs. Had he boated number 5, he'd have had at least 61, and maybe 69 or 70. Who knows?

The fifth big fish was on a LC D12 that Kelly Jordon gave Mike. On 50lb. braid. And that behemoth dusted Mike's azz!

From there I went to rods and reels with the” Champ-Ken A”, who I’m bringing backup IMX’s, just in case he blows an eyelet….Now Im down to the Godfather of the Bell….Brotha Fouz….This one is tough for me, he is my original sponsor!…The man is not only a legend on the given water, but a consultant to us new guys and vets…..I’m going to bed so confused…But my gut says back off on the drag and run the 50! Pack says by all new hooks, his got bent and broken….Dear GAWD….Im running the Cumaras with Revo PRM’s, spooled with 50 SW and an arsenal of BIG Baits and Big HEAVY Hooks and that’s it…Thanks for the feedback fellas….But I’m putting my team on the field as is, with the gear we got….And frankly I like our odds!

No it really was 50 Bro..... We talked about 30, 40, and 50 and I said I used 40 for ripping Traps in grass but I had 50 smoked at The Bell. The fish bit a Chatterbait I had thrown out toward deeper water and let sink to the bottom. I lifted the rod, felt the bait vibrate and let it fall. I lowered the rod and just as I started to lift, a fish grabbed the bait, made a hard run before I ever lifted the rod and POP! My drag was cranked down because we had been flipping heavy brush a few minutes before. Braid has no stretch so it parted.

About that time my phone rang and it was Fouzman telling me to make sure I take 65.....

Well I just talked to Fouz and it looks like Im going shopping again.....65lb piano string here I come!!! I HATE braid and now Im about to spool up with someting I could pull my truck out of the ditch with, unreal!

Do you get to bring your own boat or do you fish out of the owners?
How long is a full day? 8 hours
Do you have to know somebody to get on the list even if you have the $1,000 bucks?
I can't find the trip pricing on the site, it just gives me per fish price.

You have to get "jumped in" like a gang...I still have the black eyes and bruises to prove it!

I would suggest contacting Mr. Frazier via his website...Just a heads up though...He has gone up on his prices to $1000 for one person and $1500 for two people.

The price went up to $1500 after I caught the 15 pounder. That is for a full day fishing for two people. He will not let you bring an outside boat for fear of zebra mussels or some other virus that could potentially be brought from the water in your live well.

The owner is very particular about who he lets come on to the lake but you can get on his website get his phone number and give him a call to discuss with him.

If he feels like you will respect his property and take good care of his fish then he will most likely let you book a reservation.

It is an awesome experience unlike any other lake you've ever fished before.

A few black eyes and $1,000 bucks? I've paid more for less on a trip to Amistad one time

OK here is the deal guys. I know Ken can bring it...Stax well he has to prove himself! I think we need to turn this into a drinking game for those left behind. I think a drink for every fish caught and 5 for fish over 10. We will need an hourly report.

The weather looks pretty good to spend a day at a lake where there are large basses swimming about. Wunderground for Hillsboro says hi of 76 with south winds at 10-15 shifting to Northwest after midnight.

Ken told me last night that he was gonna run the trolling motor and not make a cast until Stax08 got his DD. I knew that wasn't gonna last. Imagine my surprise when I recieved the video at 8:53am of Ken catching that fish out the back out of the boat!

Thats with less then an hour of even being in the water!

How long would a fish from there be that weighed 20 pounds? 30 inches or are these things as wide as they are long and built like tanks?

Probably about 27 to 30 inches, Barrett. The 14.75 I caught last March was 25.5". Kens 15 was 27. But yes, the length/girth ratio on those fish is off the charts.

Update from the Bell: we've had two bites so far and we are going in to lunch. My fish weighed 12.0 even and came on a jig off the same area where I got the 15 two weeks ago. Mike had the other bite and didn't hook up.

Stax lost one at the boat that was about 8# but it has been slow and WINDY!!

We've each caught one about 4# and that has been it since big momma this morning. We have one hour to go. It ain't over til it's over!

Thanks for all the updates today. You have me all wound up and ready to go catch some fish. Reminded me of the late 80's and early 90's when a new state record was caught nearly every year.That was fun fishing.

Dang I'm excited and I'm not even there....

That's fishing. A 12, two 4's and an 8 lost at the boat, plus one missed bite in 7 hours. Still one heckuva trophy fish for Ken but for all of those that thought Camelot Bell is shooting fish in a barrel, think again.

Sounds like a place managed for trophy fish. Low bass numbers and high forage numbers. My kind of place.

Many folks think they want public "trophy" fishing lakes but 99.99% would not approve after fishing a couple hours. There would be 1000s of posts here daily complaining about the fishing.

Fact is trophy bass fishing and management is for very few dedicated individuals.

Hopefully these guys pull it out in the 9th. Just knowing what the possibilities are is what keeps you going back.
