Had the day off, so I made a quick trip up to Clear Lake. Water was very stained and probably 3-4 feet low. Wind made fishing a bit of an adventure, and the fish weren't very cooperative, either. Caught a decent chunk on a black magnum trick worm rigged on a drop-shot, but that was it. Also found out that my neoprenes have a pretty good leak in the right foot--got pretty danged cold after about 3 hours in the water! hammer

I went to that lake once and was not very impressed... would be cool to see it with the water up.. The water was just at the very end of the ramp when i was there.

So its about the same? The water level? Thanks for sharing a report!

I was out there last week and the water level was at the end of the dock.
I went all over the lake and even being low I found 20ft deep water. The temp of the water was at 43.
The stumps on the North end are the place to be I think I found 16ft of water in them. I also went up the west creek and looked for crappie found none.
Did not catch any fish but with the water at 43 degrees I would not expect much.

I have only fished Clear Lake one time.

I like the way the creeks run out into the timber.

I wish that lake was 5 minutes from my house.

thats a great little lake, dont give up on it. i made several trips out there in my kayak where i caught over 20 fish...also, the deepest i found out there when it was full was 31ft and that was after paddling around for quite awhile....so im pretty convinced thats the deepest part

Yea the creek off the pier runs into the main lake and turns toward the dam before trailing up the back timber creek. I got 32 feet on my depth finder as well and its about 15 feet at one point in the back creek.

Clear Lake has some really nice fish. Caught a 4-9, 5-6, and 6-7 one evening last spring. My biggest there was over 8. Typically, though, you'll catch 25 dinks for every bigger fish. It's a little frustrating, too, because I'd cull some of the smaller fish, but most are well under the 14" minimum.

Yea my biggest at Clear was a 7. I had fished it for two years before i caught that pig. Dead on btw with the 25:1 ratio! Rhodes lake is a little better. I have the record at 8 out there according to the Forest Service but of course they dont hold official records:( But i will usually catch a few two-three pounders each time i fish out there. I think Clear's problem is the overabundance of bluegill. It gets alot of pressure and when the spawn hits it gets hammered by bass fisherman and that lets those 'gills attack their beds. Plus we agree the bass dont get very big and cant protect their nest as fiercely.

Went for a few hours this afternoon/evening. Clear Lake looks great--full and water has cleared up nicely. Caught 15, and two friends caught 15 and 6 each. None of the big girls, unfortunately, and only a few that were even above 14 inches. Still, good afternoon of fishing. I caught all of mine on t-rigged watermelon/chartreuse or chartreuse/pepper lizards.

Went out there on Wednesday and caught six. All were dinks but still fun. Caught on black power worm t-rigged. All caught on shore to left of fishing pier in those weeds.
