Ok, here are my very first two crappie jigs. I finally got some material in and I couldn't wait. Because my wife has been so supportive, I told her that I would let her pick the jig head color and I would name it after her. After that, I have a 7 yr old grand-daughter that wants to be my fishing buddy so I told her that I would name the second one after her nickname. So here is the unveiling of Ms. Cathy and Katybug. I love em both. Let me know if you see something that I need to do to make em better.
Thanks

Great choice of jig head. They look great. For me, I'd stop the chenille at the point of the hook. But I bet the crappie don't care. You're on your way. Great start.

Thanks guys... I knew you suppose to stop at the point but somehow in the heat of moment I just quit thinking about it while I trying to figure out what to do with the spool getting caught in the chenille and accidentally picking up the flash with the thread hammer. I will try to do better on the next ones. This is really a lot of fun. smile

Too kind guys. I tried very hard to watch those that know what they are doing and listen to what they say. Experience does not come without learning. I hope to get better.

Nice work for you first and love the name on #2!

You should also look at the FAOL site for learning some tying stuff as they have some lessons in fly tying and have 3 stages, beginner, intermediate and advanced. Lots of great patterns and can just take part of a pattern to learn and apply to a jig. They have no videos, but great pics and well written descriptions.

Just click on fly tying and then beginner...

Those are nice looking jigs. I've just started tying some of my own jigs. Tied a bucktail pattern the other morning and caught 12 keepers on it that afternoon in about an hour. Can you say HOOKED! Made my first order to crazyangler the next day for some different patterns. I enjoy reading about and looking at the different jigs you guys tie. I'll post some pictures soon for some constructive criticism...but for now...I have to wet that jig.
