I thought maybe we could get a post going to refer back to and to add to over time to inform people of when, where and how to use what lure. For example: Winter = Dead Sticking/ Slow rolling soft plastics such as _______ in depths of _____ during the months of _________. Spring = ______ lures with _____ technique in ____ depths with _____ technique.
I assume the lure makers and the guides would have lots of info with the addition of all us hard core guys and what everyone likes. I assume opinions vary.
If this is a bad idea just respond with a delete thread request and I'll get this taken off.
My hope is to learn during the different times of the year, what lures to use, in what depths and with what technique. Thought it would be helpful for all.

Well I've seen a slab work dang near year round now. Burn it, lift it, chunk it, wind it, hold it! Seems that might be the go to year round lure.
Now if ya want big uns, change to flukes during the winter and hang the $"@ on!!!

I'll make this easy...
Winter - Moe's tackle Spring - Moe's tackle Summer - Moe's tackle Fall - Moe's tackle
If that don't work then you need more diet milk Don't worry Bombay, the "lure guy" pile on will start soon This is not to be a WHOSE lure to use but WHAT lure and when. People can decide where to buy, I just wanted this to be what to buy. The list Duck posted is great. I'm sure others have a preference too. How is yours different, If it is?

Might as well jump in on this...I got "hooked" on Bomber Rattle RRRA Crankbaits 25 years ago. then they quit making them. Oh I know..they are just like...___________ _______________ ___________ or ____________.
But they ain't. There is something about them that works...year round. I use them on about every species...Largemouth killer...smallies...white bass...wipers...
They work....good luck finding them. I've got a stockpile of about 60 of them...if anyone has any...I'll take 'em!

I personaly use a ton of moestackleshop baits...and looking forward to using the Godfather slab this spring and summer when the slab fishing starts to pay off better...right now if you want big fish and this is big fish time go with soft plastics...I don't type or spell well enough to go into detail about all the baits and patterns...but don't mind sharing what my little pea brain has retained over the years so you will have to call me...are book a trip and we can talk about it all day long!!
Talking about slabs...does anyone remember the spinner slab?? It was made by a cranky old man named Mack Ronk he lives at White Deer Landing...he was cranky but a very fine fellow...he would do anything to help you...I can tell you this there was a ton of fish caught on his slabs and the paint looked as good after two hundred fish as it did the first one!!

Be careful VIP you might get black balled on the forum for not being a moe's tackle zealot. Or worse yet if you actually claim to have caught a fish on something that didn't come from moe's you will probably get chased of the area lakes for speaking blasphemy.

Now to answer your question.
September and October - DD-22's shad colors, lower lake humps about 14' + or -, let them bump the top of the humps. You will get hit as they leave the bottom as you pass the hump.
April and May - same pattern but mid lake and use chartreuse colors.
In both cases use bright red's before sunup and after sundown.
June, July, and August - number 14 pet spoons, chrome on bright days, gold on dark days. Drop them to the thermocline (+ - 30') and hit around and between deep water humps that come up shallow.

Most of the folks that aren't here anymore were people that enjoyed bringing other people or their endevours in the business world down. Is folks, the business, or end users? I can think of one that isnt even on this forum anymore, but who would most be? Just curious. There were some very good folks that were involved with this tackle business that are no longer in this business for various reasons. You can go on and on with the fist pumps but bringing the business world down, come on...really. This is a cut throat business, I got to see it in full force bring the business world down....lol please.

Looking back at my post it is very harsh. For that I apologize. I have no favorite tackle supplyer and have some stuff from moe's and many others. It's just that when someone asks for real help the few that really try to give good advice are often drowned out buy guys saying moe's, moe's, moe's, without giving any reason, how, or why.
The trolling bashing from some of the same people rub me the wrong way sometimes. A rude fisherman is a rude fisherman no matter how he does it. The same for a good guy. I was rude today and am sorry that I took myself down to the level of those of whom I speak.
Just so everyone knows I have received pm's both for and against my original post. So there are some out there that both agree with it and those that don't.

Back on topic. Spring time sandbass. Wind blown long slow sloping points going from deep water to nothing. With a sandy bottom and preferably a small piece of cover, like a stump or two or a sand filled five gallon bucket.
I like a 1oz tail spinner with a white body, chartruse back, and chrome hammered Colorado blade.
Anchor up wind in open water far away. Cast as far as you can. Keep letting out anchor line until you can reach the fish that may be near the cover or shore and may be in very shallow water. Huge numbers of fish a day can be cought this way.
The ideal spot I described often does not exist. Just look for a the spot that gets closest to it and there is a good chance that fish will be there. Sometimes in less than a foot of water.
