I pour both size 2 on 1/8 and 1/16. Even a size 1 sometimes depending on what people want

And, #6 on 1/32 is what I normally prefer.

But, depends on the fishin technique. If I am fishing deeper open water I like to increase the hook size. I have used a #2 on 1/16 and #1 on 1/8 if fishin open water.

I prefer the largest hook that gits the job done with the least amount of hangups. Practice will tell ya whut you can get away with! smile

+1 BigDave Largest hook to target size fish your after. Never know when that special fish will come along and you lose it to a tiny hook. I also am a big fan of the darker bronze hook instead of the red. I like the red when saltwater fishing, it seems to bring more strikes but fishing for crappie, I like the hook to kinda disappear. jmho I almost exclusively use #4 in water less than 15' and go to #2 in deeper water.

I'm sure it is a personal preferrence but I prefer #4 red sickle hook on 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8oz jigs

I've always used the red sickle hooks and have had very good luck with them and others have advised they trigger strikes with red hooks. I'm going to try your suggestion about black hooks and see if there is a difference here on my lake and our color water. Thanks for the suggestion! I also fish from 3ft- 35ft water and have never lost a slab due to a #4 being too small. I tend to stay with what works for us but am always willing to try new things.
