I have a 2010 Tundra Double Cab, and I have been seriously considering getting a bed cover for it. I have seen the ever so popular "UnderCover" brand, and while I like them, I dislike the fact that they prevent me from carrying anything tall without having to take the entire cover off.

I have also seen the roll away kind, but I dislike those because it takes up a significant amount of bed space (a friend of mine with a Dodge has this kind, and it takes up nearly a foot of space in the bed).

I know I am nit-picking here, but if I'm going to spend that much money on something, I want to get something I will be happy with.

Also, I don't like the flimsy tarp-style covers either.

With all that in mind, any recommendations from my fellow fishermen on bed covers? If you have one of the ones mentioned above, what do you dislike about it?

I have a titan 2004, and couldnt wait to get a full hard cover, they just look so cool. So I bought a Astro Lid, 900$, and they're OK, but many, many a time I wish I didn't have it..
can't haul anything big..and they don't come off easy that's for sure. If I had to do it again, I'm 60/40 for no,..it's still on my truck, and you can lock it for safety, but it's more a pain than useful,..just my opinion..jim

Back in the day when I drove regular cabs I always had the flimsy tarp things (tonneau covers). I liked them because I could just roll it up when I did not need to protect something. Since I have owned supercabs and double cabs I have not really had a need for a bed cover.

New truck, '12 F-150 SCrew, decided to try the rolling kind, bought the RollNLock brand. It does eat up 10" in the front, but it is only 7" deep so can still slide stuff under it. It seemed to be the best compromise, not like I use the full bed much anyway, but do like to be able to haul tall stuff.

We'll see, I've had the soft snap-on tonneau, and a full window cap before, they all have +/-

I have a cover made by Berlin. It's a soft cover mounted to a frame. If needed. just the cover can be removed in 2 minutes.

I have an 07 F150. I have an ARE deck lid cover on it. I had the same brand and style on my 98 before that. This particular brand is more theft resistant or harder to break into than most other brands. No I can't haul tall items but I like to see out the back window and the security it provides.

I don't know of a hard cover in existence that can be towed with it extended up. The undercover is nice because it's so easy to remove. I had one on my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 and it was really, really easy to take off and put on by myself. Much easier than the heavier covers. Plus, it's fairly affordable in comparison to some of the other covers.

Undercover flex. You can use the whole bed.

I have truxedo lo pro. It's a soft cover but it looks really nice and keeps my stuff out of sight out of mind down at the coast. It's only about 3/4" above the bed rails. When you look across it, it lays perfectly flat and doesn't have the "covered wagon" look. I can use 100% of my bed whenever I want. And cover everything back up in 30 seconds. It's water proof and very durable. Had one last 9 years on a truck before anything wore out on it.

just went through this problem with the new Ram 1500 4x4.
been in a Suburban since 94.
just not enough room under the bed covers.
went with a Snugtop brand topper.rear window like a regular SUV.
cab high and makes the truck look like a Suburban/Tahoe.
for the difference in price from the cover, it was a no brainer.

Sweet looking rig.

Thanks for reminding me, a SnugTop was what I had on a '97 F-150, they make some of the best looking caps anywhere.

The only thing I wished I had done back then, was to have the front window of the cap replaced with clear glass, looking thru 3 layers of tint makes it real dark at night.

Check out the Bak Flip. Hard cover, locks up your stuff, but you can drive with it up and put large items in the bed. I think they look a lot better, too.

My brother put a beautiful color-matched hard top cover on the bed of his 2010 GMC, looks nice!

The only problem is he can't haul tall items in the back (as mentioned above).

Heck, I can haul bigger items in the back of my Tahoe than he can in his truck.

I like the Bak Flip, despite losing a little space up front or losing your rear view mirror for a short trip if its flipped alll of the way up. thumb

I have a colored matched are on my f-150 crew cab that looks good, but I doubt that my wife and I both could get it off.
But , it is good for carrying rods and fishing equipment.
