There are lots of Good jig tiers in Texas. Jigum Jigs is my favorite. He's a stand up guy that does exactly what he says. He will bend over backwards to help you in anyway he can. He helps out behind the scenes in lots of kid programs. He helps others that are learning to tie their own jigs. He is one of those guys that are for leaving the world a little better than he came into it. He is a man of impeccable character. You said Texas but TNT makes a great jig too. I think they are in Arkansas. http://www.tnttackleonline.com/Tim is a great guy to deal with too.

Who makes the Best Crappie Jigs in Texas? I know of SlabMeSilly and Jigum but are there others? Could be stirring up a Hornets Nest, I realize, But I need to order some and want the most BANG for my buck. Thanks Gents! If you would've asked this question about nine months ago you would get different responses. Go do a lot search at the top of the page if you need too. There are a few good jig makers on here. I'm friends with Matthew and have been for years. I don't know CV well but I do pay attention to a lot of things on here. I'm may loose some respect from a few but I don't really give a chit. People get mad cause the truth hurts. Matthew makes some good jigs and were the first one I bought when I learned how to jig fish. In all honesty Tim's looks like CV's jigs. CV has some good jigs also. So check them all out and make your own decision because they'll be your jigs not people's on here. If you go by opinions on here you could make a bad decision. With that being said everyone liked CV's jigs at one point but for some reason like to not bring his name up anymore. The point is opinions are like arse holes everyone has them some good some bad & around here there's a lot of the bandwagon kind. If one gets mad at someone the rest of their friend turn against them also. So in reality you have to make the decision yourself. Also keep in mind that there might come a day in life that you need some help to save your life and the person you're bashing is the only one around to help. Do you think that person should help you? Keep fishing my friends!

order you some jigs from Jigum Jigs, and some soft plastics From Crazy angler,, if your not happy with either of these expert bait craftsman, I will buy them back from you. hows that for confidence in a product? Also as mentioned above, the product is important., but who your doing business with is also very important, providing you have charecter and morals. do a little back reading, talk to some folks on here in pms, you will get a feel for who you want to spend your hard earned dollar with.

As my name is mentioned, I thought I would give my two cents. I appreciate so many people on here for their supports that I can't even count. I will continue to strive and provide them with the best products I know how, and the service I am capable of. Jig tiers across the US would agree with me that no one can sit in his/her family room and make a living at jig tying, it's one of those passion. Either you have it or you don't...
As far as pleasing everyone, that is impossible. Even The Lord can't please everyone and ended with many non-believers. All I can do is serve those who allow me to serve, but I am not going to lower myself into the so called "jig-war". As the matter of fact, the jig-war(s) are usually provoked not by jig tiers, but by some individuals. Ammong all those who provide services of custom jigs on here, non of us ever have anything to bash/trash one another. We respect one another with the utmost sincerity.
In the past, I had to defend my intergrity to a few haters. It's rare, yet exist, unfortunately. Those who have known me for a long time on TFF would NEVER be able to find a single thread I posted to bash/trash ANY single individual..NEVER! Contrary, some individuals would take a chance to bash/trash me for whatever reason at every chance they get. Often times, I am stuck with a delima. If I retaliate, then I am not much better than them. If I don't and sit quiet, then there may be some newer posters who will eventually believe the bashers/trashers. Hopefully, my few haters will eventually find some happiness within their everyday lives so they would post something more productive in the future...
I am sure everyone would much rather read informative fishing report than this. For that, I appologize!
PS:...To one of my hater, thank you for editing your original post so that it's not so obvious... Seriously, I am thankful!

I know for a fact he donated some jigs for an auction to help raise money when someones family member problems and now gets attacked by that person every chance he can. I also know CV helped out a young kid at one time taking him fishing at times and if I remember right made a expensive custom rod for that person and he too pokes the fire when given a chance. The point is opinions are like arse holes everyone has them some good some bad & around here there's a lot of the bandwagon kind. Love a post that asks for opinions...
IMHO, you can try lots of good stuff out there, but at least on Cedar Creek, you can't do better than Slab Bandits and Jigum Jigs.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS.. if half the town is walking around spreading the word that a woman is a prostitute, theres likely at least some truth to it. If half the people in a town is walking around saying another woman is a saint. theres likely some truth to it. If the hat fits , wear it, if it doesnt, dont be offended.

tim is a good man, although he is a good friend, i will give you my suggestion that's non-biased. For the money, quality, service, i say tim's jig. Go visit each site and look at the samples and do your math... just like any other shopping. I go walmart alot not because it's my favorite place to go, it's just cheaper and has what i need most of the time.
In my opinion, I have no doubt they will all work well depends on the situation, condition, atmosphere, weather, etc... and etc...
But, it comes down to, you have fish at where fish is feeding. Don't matter what you put in there, if there's no fish.

No disrespect to CV but in the second paragraph he mentioned that even the Lord can't please everyone and ended up with non-believers.. It's to my understanding that GOD is not in the pleasing business, but the soul saving business.. That is why he sent his son to die on our cross... Love is what God has for all that will call upon his name... It's belief and trust in GOD that one has that binds him/her with God... Thanks, Matthew

IBTL...
I have used a lot of jigs from every tier on this site I believe except Tim's. Sorry bro, I stopped my jig hording ways before your entry into the market.
In my opinion, most of the jigs on here are great. You do get what you pay for. Some of the less costly jigs aren't done as nicely as some of the more premium jigs. Stuff like how hard the paint is on there, if the eyes are cleaned out, how much chenille and such are used, the type of hook, etc.
One thing is true, they all do catch fish. I've caught more than my share on Thump its, Bob R, SlabmeSilly jigs and a few others. It doesn't really matter who you buy them for, all the tiers on here are great.
Just buy some from everyone and find the ones you have the most confidence in. I would recommend buying from someone who is close to you and fishes your local lakes because they will turn you onto the best colors for that lake.
Personally I have been only using some I got from a great guy that doesn't even advertise on here. He's a fine fisherman and very knowledgable and has turned me onto two colors that I won't leave home without. Good luck and have fun shopping.

If you want cheap, go to WalMart, put some superglue behind the head on the thread wrap, get a hook hone and sharpen the hook and go catch fish. If you want durability and the ability to grab a jig out of the pack that doesn't need glue or sharpening, go to hand-tied. Another advantage of the hand-tied is the availability of just about any color combination in the world. Another advantage is that the jig tiers on here are also avid crappie fishermen and will gladly point you in the right direction on a lot of lakes as far as what colors/sizes they or their customers have done well with.

Not going to take sides here at all. But there is no reason at all to buy hand tied jigs from any other state when you can get the best there is right here in Texas. In no particular order at all here is what I use on Palestine. It just depends on what time of year it is and where the fish are. I switch allot until I start catching fish. I absolutely love hand tied jigs. But honestly, there are times when the plastics will just out produce for me. I would love to fish nothing but hand tied jigs, I just have not got to that point yet. I loves me some Crappie fishing!

I can't say who makes the best jig in Texas, but here is what I can say.I've only bought from CV and here is why. A sent him a PM asking about jig colors on certain lakes, he gave me his number and said for me to give him a call. The man spent over an hour on the phone with a total stranger asking me about my experience, beginner, novice , etc...Anyways I ended up purchasing some from him, I have since placed more than my share of orders with him. I also not to long ago asked him the price on some custom colors. He ended up mailing them to me, and told me to only pay if I liked them. All I saw was a picture of them on here and sent him the money for them. I have never had any issue dealing with him, he also makes a quality product in my opinion. His customer service is off the chart,it beats Walmart and Academy. Whom ever you choose to buy from, I'm sure you will be more than pleased with their product. Good luck.

Well for what its worth i have bought all kinds of jigs in my time I have wasted alot of hard earn money on cheap jigs you get what you pay for i understand that I have tried them all I am right now really liking Slabmesilly jigs but thats my own choice we are grown men and women here you can choose what brand you want to buy and try them it all up to you I just like Slabmesilly jigs it is the way the jig is made and the hooks are super sharp I know my fingers can tell you so when you buy a slabmesilly jig you get your moneys worth not some cheap china sweat shop product that wont stand up to the challange I have caught alot of fish on one jig and it looks like it just came out of the package it is the material CV used thats what i keep calling him with my orders I have friends and family members asking me what i am using I give I let them choose what color they want and I give it to them as a gift my fishing partner is a minnow man and i was before i got these jigs now my number catches are more now and he has changed his outlook on jigs also there is no telling how much money I have spent on minnows and come to find out having to pour them in the lake when done fishing because the want the jig over minnow. That is my story and stcking to it lol

That is my story and stcking to it lol Atleast you converted over to Jigs... Steve was a minnow guy as well. I recall asking you all about using jigs at H & H when Steve and i saw you and your fishing buddy, and it was clear yall were minnow guys.... now minnows do have their place, but i prefer jig fishing....

Yes Crappiehappy its much easier with minnows but there is so much computition in the lakes some times you need to switch we still used minnows at times here in the last 6 or 7 months its been jigs. I havent seen yall in a while well heck i havent fished in a while right now i am getting ready for my up coming bass season and thats where I do all my scouting for crappie holes on Cedar Creek.
