Looks like it would work. The only thing that I would be concerned with is if you where trolling a a big fish got hooked up and put a lot of stress on the smaller piece of PVC going to the base.
Here's a triple rod holder rig I use to use

It will work but make the piece bigger going to the base. My first one was small and snapped off on a 25lb'er

Would it be better to run a piece of aluminum on the bottom pole going into the Scotty mount?

That is where i think its the weakest, but this was the only thing i could come up with while i was at home depot.

I like the holder above! thumb

Chess, see if you can find a piece of solid stock for the bottom part. It can be small diameter like it is now but be much stronger. If not run a dowel on the inside and glue it in.

I think its a great idea. My only worry would be getting the rods out with it being so far away from you. I had a set of bee readys in about the same location you have yours and I had a hard time getting the poles out of the holders when I had a good fish on.

Yep they are a ways away from me...the cockpit on the pescador is huge.....I have to sit on the center hatch to get to the "center console" of the yak. I'm only 5'7" at the most...and your right on ryan when you say it can be a pain.
Didnt find any other way to put the holder without it really being in the way.

BTW, the 1/2"pvc base pipe broke just now while doing a test on it! lol
I will be buying real metal pipe for the main support cheers

Will post some pics tomorrow!

Thanks for the advice and compliments wink

Great idea Chess! I have been wanting a Scotty triple for a while. That is a great homemade option. A little tweaking and it will be just as good.

I am all for the DIY stuff, and this looks great. I think with a little tweak here and there you will be happy in the end. I got lucky and won the triple Scotty mount in a contest. If I would not have won it I would be tempted to copy yours.

Final Product

I put a 1/2"inch threaded nipple into the mount then put a 1/2" to 3/4" coupling....followed by a 3/4"x6" pipe going to the top

Only difference is that bottom pipe, much more solid.

Happy with it the way it turned out, last pic was just before I painted it.

Nice concept. How big of fish do you expect to catch, with the rods in the holder?
