Has anyone here ever use cotton seed oil for frying fish? Just curious how it works and the fish taste.

Saw some today in local grocery store. Never noticed it before.

Use to use it all the time, it tasted fine. It has a long shelf life and high smoke temp (400-450F).

Rice bran oil and grape seed oil are s'posed to be better for you too with a higher flash point. Just got the grape seed oil and haven't tried it yet.

Taste good frying fish. Not a good healthy choice of oil. The ratio of omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids is the important numbers to remember for health reasons. Omega 6 is a natural inflammatory, Omega 3 is a natural anti-inflammatory. Ideally, you would like a 2/1 ratio of the omega6/omega3. Some of the better oils for you and your friends and family would be walnut 5/1 and soybean oil 7/1. Safflower oil has no omega 3 at all according to some literature. Sunflower oil is about 200/1 and cottonseed oil comes in at a ratio of around 250 to 1. Hope this helps.
