Old dam on Lewisville

I've been fishing Lewisville regularly and can't seem to catch fish. I'm bank fishing with cut shad on Santee rigs, I just don't think I'm in the right spots to get deep. Has anyone banked it on the old Lake Dallas Dam lately? Last 2 times I went out there I didn't catch anything. Just wondering what ya'lls opinions are of that area for bank fishing. Of course, if anyone has another idea for a good bank spot that would be fantastic. I plan to go out tonite. I usually fish the midnite shift. Thanks!

I see a lot of guys fishing off the point at lake park and across the way just north of the point were Hickory Creek opens up to the main lake(westlake park?).

Thanks guys. I actually live at Lake Park, but I've never fished here! I've been out drift fishing by the old dam and caught some nice fish in 25 ft of water, but never anything from the dam itself. I'm gonna try shrimp and greem worms tonite and see if the bite will be on. Westlake is very shallow, might be good for channels in the summer, but I won't waste my time looking for blues there.

Try Oak Point park. There are some guys that fish for blues here in the winter and do very well.

This passed spring I banked Westlake in the cove on the dam side of the park and wore 'em out on cut shad. That was my first bank trip targeting blues, and I was happy with the results.

Where exactly is Oak Point park? I've never heard of it before. I'm new to the area and mostly go out late night after work. Nobody has ever showed me around, so I just try different spots every night. So far not much luck at all. I get run off by the cops most of the time ( Hickory Creek is BAD!) and haven't been able to really find a good spot for all night fishing. I'm frustrated but determined...I have the Catfish Addiction and I love the sport. Channel cats keep me going in the Spring/sumner, but the Blues are bringing me down cuz I can't catch any. Guess I need a boat?

Does anybody else fish on Lewisville at night? In 50 or so trips this fall/winter I have yet to see another fisherman anywhere.

From Lewisville, take the toll bridge to Little Elm. At El Dorado, turn left. This automatically turns into FM720. Follow 720 as it turns north until you get to the traffic light (McCormick). Turn left. At the four way stop (City Hall) go straight. This puts you on Lakeshore Blvd. Lakeshore deadends at the park. You can park outside the gate to avoid the entry fee. I usually fish the rocks on either side of the boat ramp.

Can you enter the park at night? I've found that most everywhere the parks are closed, hence the cops! The only two places I've found is the old dam and tower bay by the boathouses. I've tried shady shores before, but didn't get any bites, and the were some strange characters loitering around that made me uneasy. There's no lights there and I worry about my car at night!

Park is open 24/7. Regularly, patrolled by Oak Point police. No lights, so bring your own. It is too far from any metro area, so no strange characters, except the local residents.

I've been wondering, do they let you build campfires out there?

I've been wondering the same thing about campfires on the old dam. Does anybody know? I see lots of old burn patches, but don't know if it's legal?
