A little over a year ago, the Texas Fishing Forum almost lost a member when Brandon Pope was thrown from his boat into 48 degree water without his kill switch attached or a life jacket. His amazing story was one of the most widely read TFF posts ever, and judging from the responses he received after his post, his story affected many others besides me.

I had the opportunity to talk to Brandon a few weeks ago about his near drowning, and I've written an account of that incident based on that discussion. To read his story, click here... Lone Star Chronicles.

Thanks Bert. Folks often get angry when I say something about wearing PFD's in the yak. I have buddies that tell me I have it close by if I need it. I will share Brandon's story!!!

Cold water is serious business! Been there. Was a test of will, determination & fitness. Can cause you to question your faith, health and relationships as well. My thoughts were on my family & the Creator.

this time of year, check the wind forecast because it can be deadly with the water temps so cold
