Myself and Mike "USMC_GY" went to Lake Dunlap to catch a few Sunfish. Mike hooked into a huge Channel Cat which gave his ultra light a hard 15 minute workout. Mike was finally able to land the fish which was 30" in length,17.75" girth, and the certified weight was 11.23 Lbs. This beat the old Dunlap Channel Cat record. Mike will also get the Catch&Release Dunlap Channel record as well since the fish was released.A great day on Dunlap. Paper work is on it's way to Austin. Congratulations Mike on a fish of a lifetime.

Nice catch! My best cat is 3/4 of an inch shorter and weighs about the same but it's tail is not forked like that, its a pretty straight edge.any 1 know what type of cat mine is?

Thanks, this is also my PB channel. I was shocked to get it to say the least because I was using a little piece of nightcrawler on a size 6 hook. One of the best battles I have had fishing in a long time. Thanks to the Banker for the awesome pics and certification.

Awesome fish Mike ! You don't see a channel that big
every day.

Nothing like going for small game and then end up in
a bare knuckles fight with a big fish !

I had something similar happen to me years ago on
Lake Waco. I was fishing for crappie with an ultra light
rig with 6 lb line and a 10 pound hybrid striper decided
he wanted my crappie jig. He was calling the shots for
a while. Had to follow him around with the trolling motor
to keep him from stripping my reel. I'll never forget
that fish.

I'm sorry if this comes out sounding dumb, but wouldnt a yellow cat be yellow? The one I caught (and didn't take pictures stupidly) has the same colors as yours just the tail isn't forked. I guess I really need to learn my fish haha
