Why is there so much vitrol online from Loomis homers about Dobyns homers, and why do Shimano/Daiwa guys get so bent out of shape that people like the Revo?

I realize Loomis/Shimano/Daiwa is the "establishment" but why so much anger towards the "young" guys?

People are scared of change? I honestly couldn't answer this question with anything other than the only reason I look passed a certain manufacturer is because I've fished with their products and was either: A) Not impressed with the performance, B) Didn't hold up to what it should have, or C) I wasn't comfortable using what I was throwing. Many of these "young gun" companies produce extremely quality products for their price point. Sure it's not like having a Steez on an NRX or anything, but realistically, how many people on here own a boat full of thousand dollar combos?

In all reality, the companies that are reputable deserve their price tag. Most companies market rods in respectable price ranges for the build quality of the blank of the rods and the "bling" on them. Thread wraps, reel seats, fancy guides, micro guides, etc. I've actually asked several friends of mine how they feel about spending $300+ on a rod. Their responses were actually surprising. One of the most recurrent answers was, "will I catch more fish with it?" So I assume that marketting is the culprit behind your answers. Companies like Shimano, G Loomano (Loomis), St. Croix, Daiwa, etc, all built up a great reputation as they were growing companies because of marketting used as they were growing. I would be very intrigued to see the young companies are going to grow and improve in the future. I realize many of them have been around for longer than I've been alive, but imagine where Abu Garcia is going to be in another 20 years. Comparable to the reputation of quality found in Loomis/Shimano? With the higher price tag to match? Heck, even H20 Xpress over this past year has improved their rods, came out with fluoro and braid, and have a ton of baits that people on this forum love. Imagine them in the future.

Totally agree 210. In the late 70's early 80's Roland Martin was the face of Shimano. Think of the people at that time, when Diawa reels were King, bought Shimano reels as a result of the Roland Martin Fishing Show. Bill Dance did the same with Quantum and Stren.
I personally love Shimano reels as well as Abu Garcia and have never had problems as a result of proper care and maintenance.
As you stated above about H20. I would always pass these lipless crankbaits for another brand. One day when a particular color was out of stock, I picked up a couple of H20'S. I was amazed at the vibration these lures had and decent hooks for the price. Needless to say my tackle bag has several these days.
When selecting any product warranty and customer service are huge when I make a selection.
