I have been doing a lot of kayak fishing on Hubbard lately. It is usually hit or miss, and usually at the bay view marina wake breaks. Do any of you venture on to the main lake and fish deep? Also, do you fish up the creeks when it is cold like this? I am going out again on Sunday and would love some intel on more than just the wake breaks. I would also like to catch some sandies. I only have an old Fishing Buddy (circa 2001) for my fish finder so not sure if I can read what is under me since I have never detected anything deep since I have never fished deep. So, all ideas are welcome.

The North side of the 66 Bridge is good for kayak fishing. The wind would have to be low or out of the South, though.

Paddle Creek park area is nice as well and can normally get out of the wind. fish East of the Railroad bridge for sandies and fish along the rocks for LMB.

Fish Bay View a lot myself, can be hit or miss but have done well lately for LMB.

The river can be awesome if it's got any water in it... Seems like it should have come up a little here recently...

O, yea. I've done that ramp before. I have a friend who lives directly across. Just talked to one of the guys at bass pro who said that it might be on up rowlett creek. I was thinking about putting in at the old lake point marina at roan and rowlett road and cross over up the creek. I will probably put in right before daylight on Sunday. Thoughts?

paddle park is nice, but I've never caught anything of real size in that area...maybe bad timing on my part, I know the sandies get good, just cant remember when....thinks its right after spawning?

Man I would love to but unfortunately have to work til around noon. I pretty much think about fishing all the time. Started a bass club where I teach high school. Sunday morn is the best time for me this weekend. Monday possibly too.
Fish zombie, I will probably b fishing for sandies, but love to go for largemouth as well.

No bites, no nibbles, no visuals, but I learned a lot about what is in rowlett creek since it is so low. Interesting day. And wow was it hard paddling back against the 20 mile an hour wind. My body is sore and spent. What an awesome day.

Going out Saturday to Paddle Point park around 9:00 if you want to get out. Can show you some the spots that hold fish, normally fish for LMB, but should be ableto find you some Crappie.
