Buddy of mine was there today and said they caught 17 today. Most fish were caught by the discharge.

saw alot of boats in the far west end of the lake, is this where most were being caught, i worked the whole cove on the other side of the railroad bridge and some of the main lake coves on the north bank.

I was there yesterday as well. I only had (4) up to 5.6lbs on my scale. All came off beds though. I couldn't buy a bite off the bank. Didn't go to discharge....it looked crowded. I also didn't go under the RR bridge, because that is where I always went in the past. Saw a quite a few boats grouped up in the trees offshore about straigh across from the RR Bridge. Witnessed several males and females together on beds.

Watch out for the Bobcat on the main point past the RR bridge. Fierce little sucker!

This lake came up in a conversation with my buddy and I the other day. Thought I would see if I couldn't get any feedback. Have heard its a pretty good lake. We live in SW AR, just about 2 hrs from Monticello. Just wondering if it would be worth the drive down there about the middle of next week? I appreciate any info and if anyone gets up this way I fish several lakes around here and a couple in SE OK and could maybe help out there. Thanks guys.

yes, it can be worth the trip, but the lake does have its off times. the last few weeks the fish were in transition and starting to spawn, which will last until mid to late february.
so the bite got a little tough, now the early spawners will be feeding again, or you can look for beds, or look for staging fishing near the flats.

I have been out there on a regular basis since the first of october and had been catching a ton of fish, three overs so far(14"-24"slot)about five unders all the rest have been good slots. i fish shallow 90% of the time and concentrate on windy banks. wacky rigged senkos and shallow running lures have been the ticket

slowdown and/or go a little deeper on bluebird days, cloudy stormy weather really turns on the bite. if you can come when its snowing, hold on.
