October! Usually you can find aggresive feeding fish fattening up for the winter. They have recovered from the Spawn and the heat of summer and it usually is not too hot on my fat arse then.

October & November are hard to beat. Not many boats on the lake and the fish are HUNGRY. Luckily I do t just have one month a year to go so we chase them all 12.

January. u can find crappie stacked up in huge numbers and the weather conditions are usally unfavorable for some anglers to get out in . you can sometimes have a whole area to ur self depending on where ur fishin.

april. crappie are shallow and i can catch em on jig and bobber from the bank.

any month you can go! but on Waco, I'd say March & April, I usually see people all along the banks catching them.

January, cold, nasty, drizzle, Carhartts, handwarmers, hot soup and coffee. Crappie are on deep brush and that is my favorite way to catch them, vertical jiggin 25'+ deep. Like crappy1 mentioned, the bad weather keeps the majority of the boats at home.
Spawn is my least favorite time of year...

October is definitely best, followed closely by April. Most of the big barn doors are caught in the fall, but lots of spawning fish are caught in April on the two lakes I fish.
