Has anyone fished this before? Thinking of taking 13 year old on Sunday and no idea if its going to be super crowded, what flies to try, which way to explore from where the bridge is there. I chaperoned a fifth grade field trip there five years ago and that is the extent of my experience.

Thanks for any tips or PMs!

Yes it's got some good sized stockers. Last time I went I matched the hatch to some emerald green scuds that had washed up on the gravel after high water. The trout must have been gorging on those.
Take some woolies with you.

Les

All mine were caught on zebra midges during the last stocking.

Thank you guys, weather looks good for Sunday. If I can get him up and going, I think we are going to give it a go. Will post back here, hopefully with some pics of smiles and a fish or two

I was out there last Sunday. I left my wading shoes behind, so I mostly did a little hiking. The area looked really nice. With the rains we've had, the water may be a little stained, but a wooly bugger is always a good possibility.

Last weekend was overcast & chilly, so a lot of folks just stayed home, I guess. There's a $5 per person fee to get into the LLELA.

Well, good news is I liked the area and it has promise.

Bad news is we didnt get a take and nor did the other 15 or so long rodders that were out there (take that back, one guy caught a carp). Not sure why they had lock jaw, but it was slim pickings Saturday.

I agree with danceswithbass. It was the same story on Friday; I didn't see anyone catching anything. It is a beautiful place to fish. I will go back.

Anyone going this weekend?
If you do, please post a report.
I see that the discharge has remained fairly constant this week at approximately 200 cu. ft./sec. That should be good.
Thanks,
Wm

Did any of those fifteen fly rodders try a chowfly? You know, fish chow fly? Fresh synthetics love the smell and taste of powerbait, and then I think those that survive the first day gauntlet from shore, learn to eat real food, and get caught on flies. At least that's my chicken fried theory.
