In my understanding they are Richard's hook of choice...
Pretty good referral there!

Chris, they should work just fine. I use Owners along with the Korda hooks. With proper drag, I would think that most any quality brand hook should be able to get the job done.

Very good hooks! I use them for most of my fishing. I have been using some of the Korda Wide Gape X hooks recently, but don't have to worry too much about the cost as they sponsor the USCARPPRO pro staffers. The Venom 2X hooks from Scorpion are also an excellent choice and are cheap as chips. The Korda hooks from Scorpion are $5 per pack.

I have used the Tiemco TMC100 hooks from Fishing Tackle Unlimited for some time now. They are strong and super sharp and have been my go to hook, especially for buffalo. At Fishing Tackle Unlimited they run like $7 for 25

The first buff I ever caught was on a tiemco hook. Zach gave them to me. I know they'll handle a 20lb. buff first hand.

They've gotten me up to my pb at 56lbs. Seems like they also hook up better on them than a standard wide gape hook.

Not sure if they hook up any better than a wide gape hook? I'd like to see proof on that! I have caught plenty of fish on heavy wire hooks in my 30 + years fishing exclusively for carp! I think Chris was looking for a strong hook for pulling out hard fighting carp from east Texas. The Tiemco hooks straighten like a fairies wing under heavy pressure. If serious about really big fish I'd leave well alone!

I checked Cabela's and there are more good hooks for a cheap price.. Eagle Claw L056 Egg/nymph hook #IK-316650 are $8 for 100. and Mustad signature egg hooks C675 #IK-320740. The Mustad is a heavy wire hook. Similar to the British FOX types in my opinion.
