Fished Belton Lake both days this past weekend, putting 6 fish in the boat on the 7th and 10 on the 8th. Winds on Saturday were light, out of the North and were out of the East on Sunday at around 10 MPH. Water Temperature on both days was 53 degrees and the water color was stained. The water level remains low (a little over 12 feet low) as of Saturday. I began fishing Saturday the main lake points, using both a lipless crankbait and a jig, with no success what-so-ever. Moved to a deep water hump and fished it with a jig and a C-Rig, with the same results. I then decided, at this point, to move into a cove that had produced for me in the past and found fish stacked up on my graph. Pulled out a slad and began catching fish. Ended up with 1 keeper Largemouth , 4 small Largemouth and 1 small White Bass. We fished from 9:00 AM to noon.
ON Sunday I did not get on the water until 11:30 AM and decided to try to locate some birds and fish for White Bass. However there were no birds to be found so I headed for the dam area and began to pitch a jig. Had one hit in an hour and a half of fishing. Moved to the back of Arrowhead Cove were I have found White Bass before, but today, nothing. Again moved to the cove that had produced the day before and it wasn’t long before I boated my first catch. At the end of today’s trip, about 3:00 PM, I had caught 1 small Largemouth Bass and 9 small White Bass and all came on a slab.
