Hey team,
Went to Brazos below PK and caught this guy.

Want to pitch in on what species you think he is?
My first thought was big sandy and he gave me quite a tussle in some narrow rocky current. I strung him him up, but immediately had doubts/concerns and decided to release him. Hence the look on my face.
Doubts stemmed from the tooth patch, very faint all around. Not that solid "V". Also one lateral stripe ran to the tail, but the two stripes above that SEEMED to or may have been "faint" as described in TPWD Outdoor Annual. Not clear in the pic but this guy looked real dark on the back, too.
Ray Roberts Sandies didn't really look like this, but striper below whitney didn't look like this either.
He swam off immediately and happily to tussle another day.
Before anyone flames me for it: I found a technique of stringer keepers on light stringers where you run the point UP through the lower jaw through the thin membrane at the front of the jaw that keeps them swimming upright and healthy all day and in the event you decide to send the fish back to chilly water you can do so with confidence.
Caught him on a new fly I tied that I'll write up on TFR later, but he was the only one that I caught. The girlfirend caught a smaller one in the same area on a silver castmaster and I heard some Ft.WorthFF caught some that morning. Lots of folks on the river, lots taking trout on GULP and complaining when the trout ate it too deep. Water was lower than previous visits, if only by half a foot or so.

Thanks guys, that's a relief. GLad he's cruising around in there. Hopefully his buddies will catch up soon.
Tight lines,
