Had a great session at Pace Bend Park today and ended the day with 6 fish, a new PB and well over 100lbs caught and released total. All in only 3 hours.

Didn't photo/weigh all 6 but here are a few.

Smallest of the day, 16-18 I'd say. Actually put up the best fight though. Scrappy little fella

If I remember right this one went a little over 21 lbs. Thought I had a real monster but it turns out I just snagged him in one of his anal fins. No wories though, the fish was fine and released unharmed.

Second to last fish of the day was this 26lb 2oz beauty. A new PB for me! Not a very flashy fighter but very strong. Managed to foul up my other two lines pretty bad during the fight but I got him in.
If you haven't been to Travis or more specifically Pace Bend in a while you owe it to yourself to make it out there. The drought has opened up all kinds of new bank space and you can really wear out the buffs. I know they're not the 50lb monsters you see coming out of Decker and Lake Austin but they're a heck of a lot of fun.

what are you catching them on?

Nothing special, I use sweet corn for chum and as the hook bait. I use old school gear so I keep it pretty simple. I do use a hair rig though and have caught them on maize (plain, tutti frutti, and scopex) in the past

travis my favorite place to catch buffalo. i was thinking if it just might be time to go also last year it was around this time i was catching them left to right i think its around there spawn season. great seesion nice pics nice star wars towel

I wondered that myself but I decided it was just a darker fish with a bit different shape due to its smaller size. If I remember correctly don't black buffalo have a different mouth? More forward facing? Maybe somebody else more informed then myself will chime in. If anybody will know its somebody on this forum though.
