Thats the one thing that really stood out as I was holding it up for photo I could see these long white barbels hanging down in front of my face.Camera battery died after that photo.Everything went completely wrong when trying to land the fish.I was using 2 rod pods that hold 2 rods each for a total of 4 rods. I had the 2 pods seperated about 8 yards. The fish hit the inside rod on the left hand pod.Lil Tumater was asleep in the car.I was yelling for him to come help, when I turned around I tripped and fell flat on my face and into the 2 rods to the right. The fish ran crazy hard to the right and all three lines were tangled.Luckily my son woke up and came and took the rod while I reeled in the two that were tangled and seperated them.Wen I went to net the fish I could see very light color appearing as it got close. I thought it was a buff but as It got closer it appeared really white and we knew it must be a koi.
Glad it worked out. Sounds like it could have easily been a very bad situation.
