Honestly, I have a few packs of BG's but have too much confidence in Slab Bandits to give them much of an opportunity.

The bandits last longer and I know they catch fish. That's ll we've used on our boats for the last 18 months.

Have yet to try the slab bandits, going to put in a order next week. Have seen one person using them and he told me he had done ok with them but really hadnt used them much. So my source of info on the bandits is not a good one. The design looks awesome though. I wont know until i try one but the bandit tail looks like it would be much more effective. I will always be a believer in a bobby garland plastics though. No denying BG they catch fish and certainly make you fish with confidence. I am sure that they are very comprable in the amount of fish they will produce. Anytime word gets out on new bait that works good the hype spreads fast. One question to ask ourselves is will the slab bandits evolve into what BG is over the next couple years or even still be in production. Will slab bandits expand in product selection, will they have the mass amount of color selection like BG. BG has already set the standard and still selling like hotcakes and slayin slabs. Only time will tell for the outcome of the bandits, hopefully they blow up just like the bobbys

Just ordered some slab bandits. Will see how they are. I've caught more fish on pan fish assassins than BG

I used BG almost exclusively for months and the truth is, they certainly catch fish! Then came the Slab Bandit. My very first experience with this bait was in mid Oct. 2010 and involved one (1) Texas Toast and resulted in 30+ crappie caught ON THAT 1 BAIT which included a 2.7# fish that at that time was the largest white crappie noted on the Crazy Angler/Slab Bandit site, as being caught on a Slab Bandit. Since then, except for hand tied Jigs on occasion, Slab Bandits are the only bait I use and in 2011 I caught more crappie per trip and larger fish on most outings than ever before and I absolutely have confidence in the product. BTW, I believe it would've taken probably 8 to 10 BG's to catch the 30+ fish that 1 SB caught. That's my 2 cents.

I agree with Pepop. The biggest different to me is the texture. I have tried the Bobby Garland, and Lake Fork Lures, and they are nice baits and catch fish. But I just can't keep them on my jig or make them last.
Today I only have 2 Plastic Bait in my Tackle Box, and they are Rocky Tops, and Slab Bandits of which I use the Slab Bandit 90% of the time. I can catch 20-30 fish on 1 bait, and with that I am saving money and time.
When I order, I personally call Slab Bandit. He is alway picking my brain for where I am fishing, and what colors I am successful with. Then I get a run down on the newest stuff coming up, or new ideas they are kicking around.
But the one thing that I keep coming back to is:
THEY CATCH FISH, and STAY ON MY JIG...

I agree the bandits are tougher, so I put a drop of supe glue on the head when I slid my bobby garland on....lasts a long time. I can go to academy or Olsens and pick out my colors right there....no wait. It's all just preference, caught my first crappie on one and never fixed what wasn't broke.

I fish my hand tyed feather jigs most of the time, but if I fish a plastic I use slab bandits. I have seen the bandit go from a bait Robert built several years ago to the new bait and shape that is on the market today. The one thing that the bandit has always been is tough. Robert and me on more than one occasion have used a single bait for a full day and caught a limit. I don't know of another plastic out there that last as long or catches more fish, and I have fished them all. As far as Robert expanding and staying in production and the slab bandit staying on the market, he now has the bandit in 3 sizes and more colors than you can fish. Robert also has another line of plastics that he will release in the near future.

How many bandits come in a pack and what's the price? 20 per pack, $2.50 a pack. I've been using them since Oct 2010 and will probably never stop unless Robert quits making them!

where can you buy slab bandits close to lewisville? I have always felt that buying direct was the easiest thing to do. The shipping cost is less than driving to where every you haft to go, even if it is down the street. Plus I never haft to leave my house. You order on Monday morning, and you will have the on Wednesday. Just don't get any easier than that. keith

Anybody seen or have any pics of the new 2 3/8" model slab bandit? I like the longer tail of the bobby garland, but it is definitely a tradeoff for less durability. Right now I have confidence in the BG baby shad so that's what I start with...doesn't mean that's what I'll end up with though

Right now I have confidence in the BG baby shad so that's what I start with...doesn't mean that's what I'll end up with though I got a few of the large Bandits when Crazy Angler was testing the new molds and they're going to be a hit just like the 3/4" version was/is. Each will have it's place and like the "mini" and standard Bandits, I'll have an assortment of the best (IMO) colors in the large size.

Here's a photo for ref. the top bait is the 2 3/8" middle is original 1 3/4" bottom is 1 1/4" all in the new color black/shad. the new profile size is more centered on long lining, spider rigging and bottom bouncing.

I would like to order a few packs. I've never tried them. What are the most popular colors or the best sellers?

I have to get on the Slab Bandit wagon also. I like fishing my own hand tied jigs the best, but some times the plastic is their bait of choice. I have been fishing them about as long as he has been making them and they catch fish. I have a bucket full of Bobby Garland, LFT, Rocky Tops (yes, I am a tackle ho in need of help) and several others that don't take up space in my boat anymore. They are all good baits. But the SB has my confidence when it comes to plastic. And Robert has my business.

Both excellent baits but the more durable IMHO Slab Bandits. If you want help keeping the Bobby Garlands on put a Dab of Super Glue between the Jig Head and the Bobby Garland. That helps keep it on. Hope that helps.

I have a ton of Bobby Garlands and they work great... but I'm starting to rely more on the Slab Bandits because they last longer!
I'm definitely going to order some of the larger Slab Bandits as soon as the website is up!

I've stopped buying much new stuff and stay with the clssics now that have proven themselves to me so Rocky tops for plastics and hand tied jigs the rest of the time. I've used the Bobby Garland in the past and they were ok but I got better results on LFT Shad. Never bothered with the Slab Bandits though I hear they are mighty good. I just had to stop collecting fishing stuff.

I used Rocky Tops at first and then I tried Lake Fork Tackle's Baby Shad. They are softer but a simple little brush on of super glue at the place the jighead and plastic meet solve the problem of staying on the hook. I also noticed they would last for 15-20 fish when fished that way. Before the super glue they only lasted about 5 fish. Seemed to tear up from sliding on and off the hook. But the fish loved them. The soft garlic impregnated body seem to cause the fish to eat them better and hang on better allowing my slow reactions to catch them better. I tried the Slab Bandits but did not catch as many fish it seemed and they slid up and down the hook also. The body seemed harder and tougher to me. So I stuck with Lake Fork Tackle Baby Shads which I had confidence in. I also have great confidence in Rocky Tops. Fish what you are confident in and you will catch more fish.

I know this post is old but I came back across it and thought I would post. Friend of mine gave me a pack of the texas toast baby shad style and I haven't had much luck with them, or atleast what I expected. I know they gotta be great bait and thought maybe it was just the color but he had every color crazy makes and hasn't had much luck. Sure they will turn on to em eventually as I know different bait for different lakes. What I have switched to instead of exclusively using BG is the Fin-S jigs. They work extremely well and seem to catch bigger fish. Anyone else use these?
