The wife and I recently moved to Galveston since she will be going to UTMB. Looking for some tips and good surf fishing spots. We will be on the east end of the island near the ferry. Any help is appreciated. Also I will have to give up the job I have now and will be looking for work in Galveston any help there appreciated as well.

Hey J ag... when did you graduate? I was class of 91' I spent a summer in Gtown making my first TroutSupport.com DVD "Find the Fish - Catch a Limit" since that time we've also add "Finding and Catching Big Speckled Trout"... quite a few have gotten a lot out of them.. don't take my word for it, check out the testimonials on the site. http://www.troutsupport.com ... they were built with the intent to support coastal fishermen in cutting years off the learning curve. A kayak comes in handy for fishing the back side of the island. Sportsmans Rd, Pelican Island, San Luis Pass, and Christmas Bay are all accessible areas for you. later Tobin

Went to east beach area off Boddeker road for a few hours today. Caught a few Crocker and hardhead on dead shrimp. No one out there was catching anything. Shoot me a message when you get down and we can meet up.

Will do man, I usually ride down to surfside, water seems a little nicer and no rules. Toll bridge sucks but thats not to bad to get away from folks.

sea wolf park is decent for flounder this time of year and earlier, but crowded on the weekends. Driving down to surfside is worth it on the weekend if you like to get away from the crowd. Not sure how the water is at bolivar, but if there is a good tide moving, it can be fun for drum & early trout this time of year.
There are a number of fishing piers too, but you have to pay for access, but there are usually some knowledgeable fisherman using them to pick them for info if you're interested in a mixed bag of bay/surf species.

I grew up in LaMarque. My Dad took me fishing. Later I took my brother. And Now I take my son (14)around the Beaumont area
You have a wide range of choices. Rollover Pass (across the ferry on Boliver) All the Rock quays along the beach. Over on the mainland Texas City Dike. Moses Lake(gotta know someone with oilfield/ranch keys) and the Flood gate.

An Aggie biologist? I say that 'cause ever'body knows an Aggie biologist is by far and away the best kind.
I'm one so is my wife, but it took us awhile to realize one of us had better find something else to do....she's a nurse at UTMB. Me, I'm still an Aggie biologist thirty years later....
Most of my fishin' is done West of Galveston, from the pass back to the Surfside jetty on the beach front and out in Chocolate and West Bay in my boat. Time to time I fish around Galveston, Rollover, Seawolf Park, the piers, and rock groins along the beach. Lots and lots of places to fish within a half hour's drive if afoot. Even more if in a boat.
Work? What's that? Something to do when the fish ain't bitin?
I got a lot of freinds in galveston with businesses. Maybe not just what a biologist wants to do....but gainful employment all the same, also got work on my farm and in the field from time to time that a biologist might get a kick and a buck or two out of....
PM me 'bout that.
