OK - I gotta ask, why would you need a rig like this to catch sand bass? I have caught 3 at a time and it's a pain in the ars. As for hybrids, well.... Just asking, seems I saw this same or similar contraption on a green fish show. To help trigger more bites during the times when fishing is tough, Most people are using these rigs when the fish are suspended. Seems they are more apt to go for a small school of baitfish instead of just one bait. And as we all know, when fishing with a partner you want to catch more than them. Some trips are just you and a buddy on a simple outting that turns into an all out 2 person bragging rites tournament, I want to help you win that tournament!

I just looked at the pics again. What and where do you add the lure? All I saw was a couple of willow spinners. I'm clueless. Do you add what you want?

I've been watching for a while. those things look like something I use surf fishing. I've used umbella rigs trolling, but they're much bigger. out of curiosity, how long are the wires? are they stainless? I might just try a couple of those for dead sticking.

That may work also lite-liner!! Put about 5 small flukes on there, and it should be on!!

Wires are "music wire" spring steel. The wires on the sides are about 4 1/2" and the one in the center is about 5".
There are 5 swivels that you can attach pretty much any kind of bait that you want. Most people are using 4 to 5 inch swimbaits or fluke type plastics.
And they are a twist off of the umbrella rigs that are mainly used in saltwater.

There is a patent on the Alabama rig. It is actually for a screwlock worm weight. I received a letter stating that the words "The Alabama Rig" were trademarked. At which point I changed how I was presenting them. I signed the letter and sent it back to thier lawyer. I also tried to call several times to no avail. I was also told that if you change a product by 7% then it is jot binded to another product. I am not in any way associated with the original design. I give the guy credit and applaud him on his success's. I also do not own a bait company, my father is retired and has always enjoyed making his own baits. I showed him the lures and he started making them as a way to generate some extra money. My father makes them, my mother is in charge of payments and shipping, and I just keep the posts updated and answer questions to help them out. They also check my pm's and help with any ordering questions. Hope this helps

Dunno how the rig can be patented as umbrella rigs have been in use for a very long time. I could see the name "Alabama rig" being copyrighted, but not the rigging itself.
But, I'm not a lawyer yet ...

A TradeMark is far from a Patent and have found that "lure guys" will throw out the "P" word to scare ya??? Don't really understand how a lure mfg can afford a TM? I guess thats why some rigs are $ 25 and some are $ 15. Thanks for your reply and good luck. The rig is a cool lure that will catch fish!

Ive got a friend that got into a school of stripers, (6 to 7lbers). He said that it took some damage but it did hold up. He said that he thought that they would break it but was having too much fun catching a couple at a time.

Congrats, Wayne on hitting a home run from all appearances.
Regarding patent infringement, IMHO you've got enough differences to not have to worry about a challenge. However, in our litigious society, you never know. If someone does force you to "cease and desist" or they'll spend more money in court against you than they have common sensce, you could always just put your design and manufacturing instructions in the public domain and stick it to them that way. It looks great, but I want to test it for durability, i.e. some silver tigers about 7-10 lbs apiece.

One question. How the heck do you cast that thing without tangling all of those lines hanging off of it? Seems like you'd be forever untangling the lines.

It doesn't tangle at all. It's alot like casting a Carolina rig. Just a little pressure on the spool and everything flies straight and true. Verry easy to put a limit in the boat with these rigs.

I picked up a mess of these rigs for the LLFC on Wednesday and they look to be good quality that should hold up well. Thank you Wayne for working with the club and making it easy to deal with you. Hell of a nice guy. Wayne also gave me a couple of the ones with the extra bling and they do look like they will be a fish catching machine (even if I hold it back through my lack of any real fishing skills). Can't wait to get on the lake and try them out this weekend. Will post how I do. And no I am not looking to catch five fish on every cast (although it will be fun when it happens) nor do I keep every fish I catch. 90% go back in the water. I just want something that may work on those days when nothing else seems to work. And I have had a few of those days. Wayne is a great guy with a good product and is a good alternative to the 'Big Box' stores. Now I need to give Moe a call to pick up some more Sassy Shads. Also, can I fish five RSR slabs off them?

5 Slabs? Bring your shark rod. ( just kidding ) We do have the "casting spoons" as light as 1/4 oz. if you're not having luck with the swim baits.
We've also got the jig-heads in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1 1/2 oz.
See ya at the boat show.

Brass N Blades has designed a "Brass N Brella" rig to withstand the striper/hybrid. You can bend the wires any way you want and they come back to the regular shape. Patent pending. They will be at the Dallas Show this weekend.

I bet if you attach four or five 2"-3" wildeyed shad on them then cast into a school of those monster tawokoni whites it would be a blast.....a mess....but a blast!!
