Yeah that looks like the only one that'd be a universal type, didn't know if anyone else had another idea

Here is what I did w my Coosa. I actually got to talk to Drew and he told me how he did his. The transducer will fit in the scupper and be recessed from hitting anything. I used goop and attached the ducer to a piece of foam and them gooped it in the scupper. I tried wo first but it kept coming loose. Then you will need to drill a hole to route the ducer cable into the hull do that it can be routed to the finder. You can drill right where it is in the scupper. I choose to run mine right where the foot pegs are. Goop the hole when you are done. Pretty simple and water temp is accurate. I did it w a standard ducer for an x4

David, thanks for answering that. I can't tell you how many emails or facebook messages etc I have gotten for this question and it is on our list to do a "how-to" video of this simple installation.

I did want to clarify one thing, did you mean to say you had to drill a hole through the "hull?" I think you might have meant through the "foam" that is filling the scupper hole. You shouldn't have to drill into your hull, just through the piece of foam that is filling the scupper, in which your transducer is recessed in making it flush with the boat (due to how we designed the underside of the scuppers to fit any transducer size)

I def want to drill as little as possible into the boat so I appreciate the clarification drew. A couple questions for ya, when are the accessories for the middle hatch and the side pockets going to be available? Also, where are the how to videos?

My power cable and transducer is one cable split so to keep everything clean and inside the hull, yes I made one small hole that I routed the ducer cable to inside the yak.

Did you split the trasducer wire? That is really clean but what kind of unit are you running?

Lowrance x4. The transducer and power cable are originally split and come together as one connection that plugs into the unit

I agree that less holes the better. Looks like you might have said hull but just meant the actual mold of the boat, not the bottom (whew!). Ok, well holes in the top are fine! Drill wherever you want but I would still avoid (like skeet did) the actual standing area which is the lowest point on the deck. I love the way you did it where you put the hole right by the foot peg. No way water is getting in there and keeps it nice and clean.

Hey freonfreak (why do I feel like I just called someone a name), the accessories you speak of will be available very soon online and then should start showing up in shops soon thereafter. Also, we're filming some how-to videos to use on our new JKTV series we do once a month. I wish we had more man-power but you guys wouldn't believe all the "hats" I, and everyone at Jackson Kayak wear to make this US family owned business run! I mean, we have world champion whitewater kayakers doing our filming, editing and producing! But, we never want to go overseas so we do what we have to do to make it all happen here in the US. Anyway, once you get any of these accessories or next time someone installs a transducer or whatever feel free to video it and post it to youtube! I know you'd get TONS of hits because you're right, people are needing this info!

On a side note I will be in Houston with Fishing Tackle Unlimited at a show I think called the Houston Fishing show on March 1st and 2nd. I'll be in Lafayette, LA the Tuesday night before that (28th) if anyone is closer there. Feel free to swing by for a seminar and/or of course I'll just be hanging around to chat and talk Jackson Kayaks or whatever anyone wants to talk about. Looking forward to it!

By the way, very nice job Skeet. People at least now can get the idea on how to put a transducer on a JK boat. All our scuppers are like this so that you can fit a transducer without it protruding below the kayak where it can be damaged. The Lowrance kit works well as well.

I'm super excited drew about getting my cuda. I kicked it back and forth between the coosa and cuda and obviously pulled the trigger on the larger. I'm sure by next year I'll have the coosa as well. To tell you the truth you're actually a huge part of why I bought a Jackson. Not only the USA thing but it's very obvious that you're passionate about quality and what you put your name behind. You don't find that much anymore. As far as my handle, I'm an ac svc tech lol. Lastly, I'm a big fan (obviously)

Well that makes sense about the Freon. I actually have one of those old Pepsi fridges in my garage that stopped cooling as well, and I bet it just needs a little recharge of that stuff and it would be good to go again. Just don't know how but if you know anything about it shoot me a PM.

Anyway, glad you like the boats. I definitely take it personally (these boats the JK team and I develop together) to make sure they are as good for the anglers as possible. Just like you with Freon, if you do a poor job servicing a unit, you may start to lose business. If we do a poor job on something we will too so we try to stay on it and keep working hard and producing great products. If we make a mistake, we'll own up to it and fix it right away!

Anyway, didn't mean to get off topic a little. Back to transducers!

Thanks. Big thanks to Drew for talking to me on the phone right after I bought my Coosa. He definately helped me get on the right track to mounting my ducer. Cuda looks like a heck of a boat. Def want to add it to my arsenal to go with my Coosa.
