I have collected about 25 Christmas trees and am going to sink them in a lake. What is the best depth to sink them at where they crappie will stack up on them? I want to fish it with minnows within the next few weeks after I sink it. What are the best weights to sink them with?

We usually put most of our structures at 10' to 15' foot deep. If we had 25 Piles, we would put 15 in 10' to 15' feet, 5 in 5'-7', and 5 in 20' foot. We feel that the fish spend more time at the 10'-15' depths during the Spring & Fall. Early morning Summer you can catch fish in 12'-15'.

Just my opinion...

Agree totally with Creamlevel Creek Kennels on depths.

I use 6' - 8' cedar trees, cut out the top 2' of the tree, tie a plastic jug in the top to keep it upright. Tie 2 - 55# blocks of concrete and toss over board.

You will need at least two cinder blocks worth of weight. Christmas trees are more buoyant than fresh cut cedar.

I usually tie my blocks to middle of tree on the trunk and let them fall. Put several out (3-10) in an area and separate them by about 4'.
