My buddy showed me a new spot today. I threw back maybe 15plus smaller ones. The biggest was 1.21lb. Great day today.

Thanks. I would have written more, but I was posting from my phone. We fishied with jigs and minnows. I think that minnows put one of the small ones on the stringer but thats it. My buddy showed me a new spot that I will be frequenting a few times this year for sure...I think that if we had a boat and fish finder... we would have killed yesterday. Tha only thing is that its a walk and not much of a trail, just gotta know where your going... Ill just say OLD ALTON, thats all. We were fishing around 8ft. deep with green; green/black; avacado; pink/black. The gig ones are starting to come up river!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hey DRF, how's the water level down there? I got a new canoe for Christmas and always intended to launch it down at old Alton but wasn't very optimistic with the lack of rain. And nice stringer you got there too.

Well, I didnt walk the river, so not too certain about all of it. I know in one spot was only about 5 or less. I think if you put in at the bridge you might be ok... If not there, the first bend past the rock cliff, might be a good spot to drop in if you dont mind the walk.

It's a climb but you can put in there. I drove by this weekend and took a look. You could put in at the bridge and go down river but not up.

Do you have anyway of knowing the water temps?

The ponds I fish are all between 44 and 50 degress as of yesterday.

ok, here's what it looks like. Met new fishing friend Peter and we fished with no luck until he had to get the kids from school. Did see a dude in a float tub with neon green flippers moving up steam about 3pm. Zero fish, no sign of shad, it was afternoon so not suprised. enjoy......

great pictures , nice looking spot . I went by duck creek just to cast a few and not even a nibble could this be an issue with the barometric pressure ? I ususally will get something I fished for an hour tried top water and my go to bait zoom brush hog , no luck .

I think one would have to hike down a long ways to get to good fish at this time.

LOL They actually have a web site for that. Somebody should tell him the new bridge is up stream form the old bridge. Unless the water flows backwards when you cross the bridge with your headlights out? hmmm

That story is no Lie. Every night I go fishing there, I hear the sound of goats. My great great great great great grand pappy knew the Goat man and traded and barterd with him. The story is true, he told me himself. Also, there are no fish there, so take my advice and dont waste your time there.

There is a huge school of crappie under 35 hanging under the support beams. Big big school. A couple good rains and cold weather will push them up the creek. Lots of 10 inchers though and mostly 8-11 inches on average with one every 15 mins thats over 13-14.

+1.. between that creek, pecan creek and the elm/clear creek forks I've floated up on some funny stuff. Denton is one of a kind, that's for sure.

Different story, I think. There were a couple a kids who were taken at gunpoint and shot and killed out on the north side of Denton on clear creek off of sherman drive, near Don Carter's land. This was around 1990.

So sometimes the goatman shows up and his body is human but his head is goat.. and sometimes he shows up and he is human but is holding a goat...

Thats cool! No biggie.

If you are deep down inside a little bit racist you better not be going there at night.

The ghost of old Oscar "the goatman" Washburn will be there waiting to greet you.

Only the pure of heart can pass.
