anyone ever used those cat master reels sold at bass pro? any positives or negatives? looks like a decent reel.....

Graphite flexes under stress. If the spool is graphite and the side plates its always going to be one big fish away from failure. Learned that the hard way with graphite based reels in my gar experiences.

I know the mega cast reels are not durable and have a weak clicker.

If you mean catmaxx, they seem to be hit and miss. Some guys have good luck, some don't.

thanks guys.....doesnt sound all that great from hearing input from you guys. I have some abu and love em...but they are getting up in age. I have had a few of them over 25 years--even caught shark on them with 17 pound test----they are still ticking. I guess ill keep investing in the abu series and not be a cheap butt.

I've got one and it works just fine, I also have abu 6500 and a couple pro angler combos witch I like very much but for some reason the cats hit my 6500 most of the time , its like it has some kinda stealth ability " I mean I think it's magic " but for the money I would take a look at the pro angler reels if your not sure about the catmaxx.

check into the PA reels, i bought one not long ago and i like it alot, i have another order placed for a couple of the rods and reels
