I've caught a lot of bass with those black spots. Some of them looked kind of sick. Mostly in the warm water time. I think its some kind of fungus or skin disease. maybe caused by being handled when caught. I wonder if thats it, and if so, can anything be done to help the fish get over it. Anyone know anything?

I've caught a lot with the black spots too. There was another post on this a few weeks ago. Some people say its a sign of a healthy fishery, some people say its a sign on polluted water, and some people say it is a genetic thing.

It's NO BIG THING, kinda like birth marks, no effect on health of fish or fishery whatsoever.

This fish was very healthy , beautifull condition and put up a great fight . I was just wondering if it was some kind of hybrid or something .

I remember other folks here posting pics of the fish with the same markings and asking the same questions.

From what I remember, its normal for them to develop them during pre-spawn and also tend to lose the markings over time.

I use a 3/4 sinker to punch through the hydrilla, so that's tied on the bottom with a hook 4" above it.
