I have a 2007 Merc Opti 150 on a Triton 186. I am currently running a Tempest 23P. My RPMs are 5700-5800 and only 59MPH. Should I bump up to a 24P prop? Aren't the RPMs a little high for a 150 engine? I need more lift in the front as well. Thanks

Your prop is fine, rpms are perfect. You probably need to tweak your motor height if you can...do you have a jack plate?

I do have a 6" jack plate, you think I need to go down on the motor? Isn't that just going to make the boat slower with less RPMs?

You need to determine what your prop height is now. The farther up you can go, the better your rig should run. Here is a good way to measure prop shaft position.

get the height measured where it is now.

then we'll determine if it needs to go up. the higher you run the motor the less trim you'll use and the better and faster it will run. and handle mucho bettero!!!!

also, you'll need to have the 23p tempest "TUNED" to run up higher. i have lot's of guys with that combo and run in the low 60's easy!

p.s. going up the engine (if it's too low) will determine how much more aggressive i can make the prop.

Thanks Steve, I'll measure it this weekend and let you know. Can you PM me some pricing on "Tuning" the prop?
