I'm going to be heading back to the 661 creek tomorrow (think its Mountain creek?) with a friend in tow. Going to let him use my mini-x. When I was out last, I found some deeper water that looked like it was holding fish. I dropped a couple of jigs and managed to catch a nice crappie when I was reeling one in, but I couldn't duplicate my success there. Any tips on the best way to find and catch in an area like this? The water here was 12 - 14 ft with most of the creek running around 5 ft or less.

Try jigs next to stumps, logs, or any other structure. Vertical jigging very slow top to bottom.

If that don't work u might try rolling some white curly tails real slow off the bottom. Tying them in tandom 18-24" has been working for me.

We managed to catch a few yesterday. It was pretty slow, but we did get 5 keepers between us, so those guys are in the freezer.

Hey FishR,

How is the bass fishing on JP? Just moved to Cedar Hill and its just down the road.

I can catch bass out there some times, so someone who is good at bass fishing ought to be able to do it with more consistency. Also sand bass fishing can be decent. If you're in Cedar Hill, I'd recommend putting in at the state park. It's got some nice coves around there and the dam is not far.

I was looking at the lake and thought Lloyd park or the other arm south of there looked good. Don't mind driving.
