I was fishing the Converse parks pond today. I caught a couple small bass. I wanted to know if anyone had any tips fishing these small lakes. There is a large lake with clear water that looks very deep . The small lake is stained and looks shallow. But looks can be deceiving. Which one of the two lakes are better for bass fishing. What is a good bait to use there.
Today I was throwing a green sinko with 15 pound test line with a 16th of an once wieght. Like I said. I caught a couple of fish early in the morning but nothing to brag about. Any spots to fish on the lake would be a huge help also . Since this lake is just a couple of miles from my house. I would really like to master it.
The reason i'm asking all these question about this lake. My brother is a big time bass fisherman. He fishes tournaments and does really well at them. For once in my life I would love to take him fishing and kick his butt,
I'm taking him this weekend. So please help a guy out so I can have bragging rights for the first time in my life.
I would also like to know. If there are any crappie in this lake. I have not tried fishing for crappie there yet. So I don't even know if there are any. If you know of any other fish that live in this lake please let me know. You guys have always been a big help and I always love the help. Best fishing forum EVER!!!!

If this post or any of my other post seem hard to read. Please forgive me. I have dyslexia and it is really hard for me to put things together sometimes. So if something I wrote don't make sense . Please let me know and I will try to fix it the best I can. Thanks for your patients.

Your fishing buddy Mick

Both Converse Lakes are pretty good for fishing. During the winter months they are a little harder to fish but you can still pull some nice ones out of there. As for bass use soft plastic such as worms. Small crank baits work well also. Look for the deep areas during the winter time and then move to shallower water in the spring and early summer. Frogs, and small spinner baits work well during the warmer months. You may also want to try Live Oak Lake. There are also some super local creeks in the area and they hold some good fish as well. Hope this helps out some and good luck in 2012. fish
