We had some lessons today. I was supposed to go to Tyler this afternoon but my wife decided pouring hot grease down the sink was a good idea. 12 years we've been married, never done it once but today she decided to be adventurous I suppose and clogged up the sink and then melted plumbing with liquid fire. Since I couldn't get to the lake, I spent part of the afternoon teaching my 6 year old how to cast a fairy wand. She picked it up quickly and we wasted an hour with a little 1/4 oz drop shot setup trying to teach her accuracy.

I love it when the light comes on above their heads and they start to "get it".

She's always gone to the lake with me but had little kids versions of spincast reels on kiddie poles and never had much luck. She's tiny but I figured she was big enough to try this setup out. Shimano reel, St Croix 6' MH and she was getting decent distance. I think I'm going to go buy her one of her own next time I'm in town because she's starting to really want to start catching them instead of just burning gas running up and down the lake which is usually her favorite part of the day.
