I am bringing this up in all seriousness, and in trying to make the decision I decided I'd ask my fellow fishermen.
Many of you know that Academy has been selling the Daiwa Zillion's for the ridiculously low price of $129.88. I bought one, then went back a couple of weeks later and bought another one.
As they have been sitting in the closet waiting to be used, I have had this thought: I need a couple of really good rods. I have never spent over $60-70 on a rod. Academy (at least the two nearest me) doesn't carry the brands I would like to have. Next week, I will be in the area of a Bass Pro, and I have considered taking the reel in there and exchanging it for a couple of good rods.
I posted in the Trading Post/Classifieds section seeing if anyone wanted to trade a couple of good rods for the Zillion, and so far haven't had an offer I couldn't refuse.
So the question is: Would you, having purchased this reel at Academy for $129.88, take it to Bass Pro where the same reel sells for $319.99, and make an exchange for two good rods?

Hell no.....if you have to ask, you already know the answer to this!!
It is morally and ethically wrong not to mention downright stealing.

Hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not that you even could. Bear in mind that this is not a comment on the moral implications of the original poster's question. But in response to the statement above, the following is taken from the BPS website information regarding returns ... If you do not have the receipt, a valid picture ID will be required for an instore return. An even exchange or merchandise only card will be issued. Bass Pro Shops reserves the right to limit the number of returns without a store receipt. So, I would think that it is possible for someone to return something to BPS that had not been originally purchased from them. I would suspect that it happens quite frequently, sometimes with the knowledge that the merchendise was not purchased at BPS and probably sometimes in returning a gift where the original purchase location is not known.
This might be the weirdest, most pointless post ever. I am not against golf, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering fishing
