Howdy all, I'm new on the forum. Looks like a great site. Anyway, I live out in West Texas and I have been fishing Twin Buttes in San Angelo. Went out yesterday and the water level is way down. I did not get a single bite. I am hoping to find another spot that is not all the way across Texas from the permian basin that I can pitch a tent and stay for a weekend and catch a few catfish. Also hoping to find one just a bit off the beaten path where there aren't too many folks around.

I grew up in Austin area and used to fish Decker lake or Walter E Long (whatever it's called now) and last time I went out there it was standing room only along the bank. If anyone knows of some descent spots, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
WT

I suspect that the reason you got no bites had to do with the cold front and not the lake. The fishing actually improves when the water is low due to the fish being more concentrated.

You might try Lake Leon. It is a fantastic crappie lake. And Alan Henry is not so far.

But I think you just need to pick a time when the wind is from the Southwest instead of North and avoid cold fronts and give your lake another try.
