So we left at 330 this morning and headed to abilene. Got to the lake and was on the water by 7. Well we spent the next 4 hours trying to find bait. I think I threw the net about 300 times no joke. The little one fell asleep so it was ok. Finaly get the reels baited and out and then the wind decides to disapear, so much for 8 miles an hour. We finaly get a little wind and one of my pro anglers doubles over, ended up being a nice 27#. Then we had 2 great takedowns got them half the way to the boat and they come undun. We started a second drift and this time the wind leaves for good. Started using the trolling moter and had problems with that. Once everything setled down my wife pulls in a aggresive 10#. She gets a 13# and her new pb of 18#. She had a fun time and is now telling me things we need for the boat. Thats good for me

I was heading out tomorrow. I haven't done any good at Kirby lately so I thought I would head to Phantom for a change of scenery. I assume you were fishing Phantom?

Care to share any advice? I fish Kirby a lot, but only rarely Phantom. Haven't been out there since Sept.

He lives in midland, that might be the closest quality lakes.

Allan Henry or even OH Ivie would be choices also. We contend with travelling distances to find water in west texas that those who live in the metromess can't begin to imagine. I travel 3 hours to my "home" lake, Amistad. If travelling from Midland he could have added 1,5 hours and been at the "big blue" where big blues, catfish that is, are extremely plentiful.
