I have a perfect spot to put the unit right between my legs under the cup holder. Anyone researched health issues from this? I know there is no radiation from these units, however, I am curious about what I don't know. crazy

I don't think you would have to worry, unless you start getting numb. I doubt the ultrasonic frequency is strong enough to do any damage through the air.

They use ultrasound on pregnant women to view the baby. I don't know how this compares to sonar. Maybe it's ok. You might want to check with a doctor.

Ultrasound is 20K hertz (just above audible).

Humminbird PiranhaMax 180 transmits at 200K and 455K hertz.

Hummingbird 597ci HD Combo adds 800K hertz for Down Imaging.

Humminbird 1198ci adds 83K Hertz.

I would recommend getting a bigger cup to have room to move around. Good luck.
