I know the water in Benbrook fluctuates pretty bad, bad is the fishing good at the lake normally? Are the fish good sized? I may just throw in the towel and give up on Joe Pool, and learn Benbrook. May have to get a few of the regulars to show me the ropes out there.

You can go here to see some photos

I do not guide anymore, but if you want to learn the lake sometime, let me know. It will probably be a few weeks before im getting around good enough to show you around.

Benbrook can be tough at times, but it gives up the goods also most of the time

Benbrook has a population of very nice sized hybrids--because of the low water levels it has seen very little fishing pressure the last couple of years. It is a difficult lake but can be very productive--plus you don't have go-fast boats all around you. Get with one of the BB regulars and see if they can give you a pointer or 2.

Benbrook was about 18ft low. They are artificially filling the lake for a couple of months. THe lake is now about 10 feet low now and continues to rise. I believe Mustang will start opening when the lake is about 6 -7 feet low which may just be several weeks away.

There are some very nice fish in BB. For a small lake it can be tough at times though. Deadsticking should produce some fat hybrids right about now. Yiou have to launch off the point on the rocks right now at Mustang. Good luck to ya.

No ramps yet, Mustang Point ramp will open first. Launching off the rocks looks like this. I recommend you leave the goofy guy at home though.

Might wanna have 4 wheel drive and a friends truck there too if you try it with a 22 ft boat.

I thought they weren't letting people launch from the rocks?

A call to the US Army Corps of Engineers confirmed that launching from rocks isn't prohibited. The spokesperson was under the impression that folks are "carrying their boats to the water," though.

Launching off the rocks looks like this.

Was that launch in December 2011?
