Well, I wasn't planning on posting this but that didn't last long. Man word travels fast in this day and age, we hadn't even made it to the feed store to weigh this pig before my phone started blowing up with texts.
My son and I were fishing this afternoon trying to get a new personal best for him, and I am afraid I may have set the bar a little too high now.
This one weighed in at 65 on some mechanical scales at the feed store that looked like they were built in 1902 and we couldn't keep the fish all the way on the scale (and still). Nobody in town with big digital certified scales was working because of the holiday so we resorted back to two sets of handheld digital scales and ended up with 66.28 on both the sets of handheld digital scales. I have to send the digital handheld scales to be certified next week.
Talk about a wild ride. I think I aged 10 years trying to talk my 12 year old son through landing this fish. I knew it was a good one when we hooked it but when the fish started towing the boat into the wind I started getting a little worried.
The Team Catfish Thunder Cat Rod doubled over a couple of times into the water and I could hear the rod tip tapping the bottom of the boat and I could barely keep my eyes open.
We caught the whole thing on video on the GoPro camera (even the quick ride to the feed store and back).
Watching my son catch this hog and seeing the grin he still has on his face is better than any Christmas present anyone could give me. Only down side was our trip ran long because of the big fish and we ended up having to cancel tonight's hog hunt.
We are submitting for a number of records next week after we get the scales certified.
